"The B&B is well run and the owners create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. We drove up to the parking spot inside the castle walls at the height of the daily tourist inflow without running anyone over. Our room was comfortable and it offered a great view of the city below. The bathroom was next door. It was all very clean and we enjoyed its access to the castle and the patio. We weren’t able to enjoy the full breakfast on the patio because it was raining, so we ate in the living area downstairs instead."

"Great place run by a lovely elderly couple. It is in the middle of Berat Castle, so you will be driving on cobblestones for the last few hundred meters. Parking was available in front. From their terrace, you have a lovely view of the surrounding mountains. Anna and Josip speak only a little English, but communication was not an issue. Breakfast was great as well."

"We stayed in the cooler month of November. The house does not have any heating, and they keep windows and doors open. Especially the bedroom could do with a heating/AC combination. Smaller issue: the shower head needs fixing. Neither is a deal breaker, and they provide ten blankets which make you feel cosy."

"This is a true guest house, you are staying in someone’s house and they treat you like a special guest. The owners are very kind and sweet, the room is comfortable, and the breakfasts are great. The property is up in the castle and has a big view of the city and Mt Tomorri from the room and the breakfast terrace."

"Bed and Breakfast Josiph is located inside the Berat Castle, an extremely cool location. The B & B is one room in a private home with a double and a single bed. The bathroom is large and is located next to the bedroom. We were three, me, my husband, and our adult daughter. The room was tight for the three of us and all our luggage, but the beds were comfortable and there was air conditioning. There is a terrace outside with a fabulous view over the town and of the mountains. Anna, the hostess was extremely welcoming and brought us delicious, fresh-squeezed apple juice on our arrival. She also made us breakfast the following morning, including "fruits of the moment" (ripe pears and melon). She doesn't have a lot of English, but we didn't have trouble communicating with her."

"The directions to get to the B & B were not great. We got slightly lost, had to call, and then had to ask people in the castle for the final few hundred feet. Beware the narrow, cobblestone streets!"

"I am so glad I stayed at this bed and breakfast. The location made exploring the castle grounds, ruins, and the operational Saint Sophia church very easy. The hosts are both lovely, gentle folks who are there if you need them but otherwise leave you be. It comes with custom breakfast and a great panoramic view. This places is why I make a point to stay at some small local properties during my travel."

"It was such a unique experience to stay within the castle walls in Berat. Josiph and Anna were so welcoming. I wish we could have had more robust conversations, but even with the language barrier we felt welcome and cared for. The room was very comfortable (with an amazing view…we struggled with the decision each night - curtains open or closed??) The bathroom was outside the room but large and fully equipped."

"It’s a little stressful driving in the castle streets…just stay calm! The sign for the B&B is small and blends in with the wall. Pay close attention when you get almost to the top and the street opens up and curves to the right. I suggest having a look at the satellite view in google maps to have an idea of the route in and click through to the street photos to see the parking area. It is a 1 km (steep) walk up from town which should be considered depending on how long you plan to stay and how much you like hills. By the 3rd night we were feeling a bit isolated from the action of town, especially the evening xhiro (promenade)."
