"I really like the location and the overall vibe. The place had character, and you could tell that the owners made the hostel their own. The hostel is easy-going, and at the same time, everything was clean and well organised. They also gave clear travel instructions that were straightforward to follow. Hostel Serena is still one of those "old-school hostels" in the best way, with plenty of common space, a clean kitchen, affordable snacks and a good breakfast. This feels refreshing compared to the commercial hostels that have become more and more common, wherever everything is an upcharge, soulless and feels calculated for maximum efficiency. On the more practical side, the beds were good, plenty of hot water and spacious rooms."
"There is not much to complain about. It was really good value for money. Just be aware that the hostel is slightly up the hill, and I would not be surprised if the road becomes less accessible in the rainy season, but we got clear instructions on different ways of getting to the hostel, so that should not be a issue."

"Beautiful hostel overlooking the city. A bit of a hike uphill from town but worth it for the peaceful garden and beautiful views. Super clean and comfortable rooms and common areas. Feels like coming home. Bert the owner is very sweet and makes you feel welcome from the start. He reached out before I even arrived to give me some important info and knows everyone by name. Breakfast is really good also."
