"We stayed at Hostal Forestal for three nights before our W Trek in Torres del Paine and then four nights afterwards. We really enjoyed exploring Santiago and its surrounding area. The excellent location of the hostal made it very easy and possible to go to many sights on foot and the closest metro stop is within walking distance of the hostal. We were very happy with our room which comes with a private bathroom. It was clean, spacious and comfortable. I have also used a shared bathroom a couple of times on the last day and found it very clean as well. All the staff were very welcoming, attentive and always ready to help! We were lucky enough also to catch Juan and Guillermo strumming their guitars and singing with their beautiful voices a couple of times. Also a huge thanks to Juan for suggesting that we visit the Human Rights Museum which wasn't on our original agenda. All in all we had a really pleasant stay."
"Smoking is allowed on the first floor patio. However during our stay there I've only met one person smoking out there, so it's not a big problem."
"I had a wonderful experience at this hostel. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. I stayed over New Year’s Eve, and they made sure to inform us about all the events happening around the city. Juan, Angie, and Guillermo are amazing people who truly made me feel at home. Many of the guests went to the midnight event together with the staff, which created a really fun and social atmosphere. Easily one of my best hostel experiences—I would definitely recommend it."

"It felt clean, safe and comfortable. Huge fan of the staff. They were so lovely and helpful (probably the nicest I have come across in South America so far). Would definitely recommend."

"The staff is exceptional. Super friendly and super helpful. The location is excellent, providing quick access by foot to local attractions and good restaurants. The common areas make it easy to meet other travelers. As a hostel, it attracts an array of interesting people from around the world."
"My one complaint is that smoking is allowed in the small outdoor space. As someone who reacts severely to cigarette smoke, I twice had to get up and go inside. Unfortunately, because it’s walled in, the smoke drifts into the other common area as well. At this stage in history, few people smoke, it’s widely understood that a small minority of smokers can create an unpleasant environment for the overwhelming majority, and nonsmoking is the rule in most facilities. It should be instituted here."
"The Hostal is in a very central location, perfect to get to visit Santiago. Staff is friendly, and they also organize events every other night to engage with travelers and guests which made our stay even more pleasant. The rooms are quite clean as well."
"The only issue we had was that there was no noise insulation, we could hear everything happening outside so if you want to have an early night, this may not be the most ideal place :)"
"Great location near a metro station, 24h reception, friendly staff, fully equipped kitchen, nice common rooms, good breakfast, clean room, great price for a private room with bathroom and breakfast included."
"I would avoid staying in room #2 as it is right next to the common area and reception so it can be very noisy. The mattress in that room was not comfortable as it was sinking in the middle (we stayed in another room on another occasion and we did not experience this problem with the mattress). Ventilator in that room is also very noisy!"
"I just stayed a day and nothing to co.plain about.. The staff and the people who come stay are very gentle."

"Great location and an excellent team. The hostel is well situated, clean, and comfortable, but what really stands out is the staff, which was friendly, helpful, and professional at all times. I had a very good stay and would definitely recommend it."

"The staff here is the BEST! - Guillermo is so kind, friendly, and helpful! And thank you, Angie, for helping me with setting up my SIM card. The location is excellent - near lots of good restaurants and cafes. You can also walk to most of the main attractions in Santiago. There's a Banco Estado around the corner (it closes at 2:00 PM) and there are several metro stops within walking distance. The kitchen is probably one of the best hostel kitchen I've used in Latin America (from Mexico to Chile). It's clean, well-stocked with quality pots and pans and dishes (cups, plates, bowls, utensils), well-labeled, and a pleasant place to cook. The fridge smells clean and it's not full of old food. On the second floor there's a room with lots of comfy sofas to hang out in and relax. The hostel is pretty quiet but also social. In the evening they offer a free Chilean drink (pisco sour) to guests."
"The bathrooms can get kind of dirty and smelly - perhaps some air fresheners would help."
"Staff was wonderful. Very accommodating and responsive. We only stayed there in the morning after we arrived from the airport in the am. So we didn’t spend the night. They offered free breakfast which was very kind. The place has a young vibe."
