"The location was great, within walking distance of everything in Colonia. The breakfast was outstanding, and the manager, Yang Gang, was just amazing. He was on his own for most of our stay, and he did everything himself: the cooking, servicing the rooms, and driving us around."
"The hotel was built about 30 years ago and was a beautiful structure with extensive facilities, but wooden structures don't hold up well in the climate of Yap. It's really showing its age, and could use some renovation."
"Yang is an exceptionally friendly and helpful manager who runs an excellent hotel in the center of Colonia on Yap. I don't know of any downside to staying at this charming hotel."
"American Express isn't accepted on Yap."
"This hotel feels like the overgrown Jumanji house in the absolute best way. Yes it's a bit older and it was closed many years after covid and just re-opened May 2025 (hence so few reviews), but it's a really beautiful hotel. Big rooms, lots of jungle surrounding the place, and it's perched on a hill for nice views of sunset and the water. I think the real reason the hotel is exceptional is because of the manager, though. He goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect for you - from latenight airport runs, to island tours, to making sure you get signed up for all the tours and get all the photos you want. He really has put his all into this hotel and making it a nice place, and in a place like Yap where connections and conversations are the only thing that will get you where you want to be as a tourist, it's important to have a connection like him. He also makes a great breakfast."
"The credit card machine wasn't working when I was there, so I had to take $500 out of the ATM to pay. But the credit card machines didn't work in a lot of places on the island so it's absolutely not the hotel's fault. It also feels a bit older and like any jungle-climate hotel, has some bugs and lizards on the walls sometimes. But you're going to get that in literally every hotel on the island so if it bothers you...you may want to rethink the trip here :)"
"The look and feel of an old plantation house, but with all the mod-cons. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Decent wifi. The Chinese manager/jack-of-all-trades goes above and beyond in hospitality – he even drove us around the island for a full tour, completely gratis! The name is a misnomer – three of the four dive shops have closed (only Manta remaining), but that is no impediment to taking the short walk (or accept the proferred ride) downhill to use their services. A plus is that check-in/check-out times are coodinated with the flights that land in leave in the middle of the night."

"Manager went out of his way to make our stay completely enjoyable. He picked us up from the airport at .1.30am. He drove us everywhere. Gave us island tour for no charge. He was exceptional"
"Such a big convoluted hotel on many levels. I kept getting lost going to breakfast. Only 2 guests in the entire hotel."
"Yang is a very responsible and helpful manager. He runs a magnificent hotel, feeling of a plantation house. Rooms are spacious and confortable with superb breakfast every morning."

"The place is charming and has a beautiful feeling to it. It is a little tired as it is difficult to find staff on Yap but the rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable. The manager Yang Gang is super attentive and helpful. Always available when needed to look after you. The location is central and all restaurants and shops are walking distance. Definitely check out Oceania restaurant. Very good quality and price. Check out Nature's Way for land tours. Su is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly."
"I would love to have seen the Hotel in it's prime. It would have been spectacular."
"The manager of this property was excellent. Even taking me around the island, getting me medicine when unwell, dropping me off and collecting me from restaurants. He could not have done more. My room was lovely and comfortable. Would stay again."
"As the manager did everything on his own, and had trouble getting local staff, if he had help then a bit of outside maintenance would bring this beautiful wooden building more to life. The pool was no longer usable."
"Breakfast was superb. Thanks Mr Yang for preparing it everyday."
"Nothing much to dislike. Maybe it is quiet but this is also due to the low season."
"The hotel manager is incredibly helpful, attentive, and friendly. My stay at Yap was a wonderful experience, and I owe much of that to this hotel and its manager."

"Hotel is best described as "good enough". Good restaurant, room has all the essentials like working A/C, good Wifi for a small island, clean. They give you lots of free bottled water. While they offload cargo ships right outside the room window (even at night), no problems with noise."

"Island Hopper was recommended by a friend and didn't disappoint. The staff made us feel at 'home' right from the airport pick up. The beds are more comfortable than ours at home. The restaurant is also excellent! Hope to be back one day."
