Guest reviews for Afiki
"Afiki is a real gem of a hotel located right on the beach at the edge of a little Ghanaian fishing village. There has been a clear intention to produce a property and holiday experience that sits with and compliments the local environment rather than shuts it out or replaces it. The pool area and pool were well maintained, the locals were very friendly. The staff were very helpful - serving at the beachfront restaurant and bar and organising transport and giving advice on attractions (a special mention for Kingsford who helped organise our cabs). If you are looking for a peaceful stay in an absolutely beautiful spot, and you prefer the authentic boutique Ghana experience to the standard same as anywhere hotel, I highly recommend Afiki. Go for a seaview room with balcony if they have availability."

"I loved the location and the beach front. The laid back atmosphere was perfect for relaxing. The food was also very varied and delicious."
"There was a power issue on both nights I stayed there which was frustrating because the air conditioning stopped working."
"I loved the location on a beautiful stretch of beach. The views were spectacular. I also like the large selection of food on the menu. The only complaint was the fresh lemonade which was only water and a squeeze of lemon juice. It was supposed to have alcohol 🍸 in it. There was none. Water and lemon for GHS 27? No way. I enjoyed the fresh juices and lemongrass tea. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool too."
"The bathroom was cramped. No place to put toiletries."
"We loved our stay at Afiki. It is a hidden gem in a secluded location about 10 minutes drive from Elmina. The staff at the hotel were amazing and the restaurant offered many delicious options made to order. The beach is the highlight with very few people. It was the ultimate place to relax and unwind without anyone bothering you. The hotel offers activities that you can pay to take part in. We did not do this as we just wanted to relax by the ocean. The hotel room was comfortable and the price was very reasonable. We stayed in the Odopa 1 room and there was an amazing balcony to sit on and listen to the ocean waves right outside your door. If you are visiting the Cape Coast and Elmina castles and don’t want to cram everything into one long day, this is a great overnight stop."
"Nothing- I wish we could have stayed longer."
"The location was perfect, staff were amazing and will go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay. I will definitely book this place again."

"We had some genuinely enjoyable moment at Afiki Hostel. The staff member who greeted us was super friendly, setting a warm tone right from the start. The room itself was a pleasant surprise, nice and comfortable, with working AC. By morning, the pool had been cleaned, and we loved spending time there; it turned out to be a great spot to unwind. The beach right in front of the hostel stood out too, it was better than other beaches we’d seen on our trip, making it a real highlight. We ordered tilapia, jollof rice, and tofu, and while it wasn’t mind-blowing, it was decent and hit the spot. Breakfast was good, a not instant coffee option will be great to offer. Overall, the place has a lot of potential, and we could see it being a solid choice for a short stay."
"Not everything at Afiki met our expectations, though. When we arrived, the place felt eerily empty, no music or lively atmosphere, which was a letdown since we’d hoped for some energy. The pool looked a bit dirty at first, and it wasn’t until the next day that it was cleaned up. Service was limited too; drinks and reception shut down at 9 PM, so late-night needs were out of the question. The room had its quirks: the shower window had a curtain on the outside, which could make bathroom trips awkward (or hilarious) with friends, and the balcony door and windows wouldn’t close properly, letting in drafts. The internet cutting out at 10 PM was another thing we couldn’t figure out. At dinner, our table had some termites, nothing other table couldn't fix, and while the beach was nice, it wasn’t exactly pristine. Getting there was a headache too, Google Maps took us down a awful road, so tell your taxi driver to take the longer, smoother route instead. From the tro-tro junction, it’s a quick taxi ride (we paid 30 GHC, though it felt like a 20 GHC trip), and our driver tried to charge us 200 GHC to Elmina so we decided to take a tro-tro back to Accra for 60 GHC from the close by junction."
"This is a beautiful and intimate setting with a lovely little beach and ocean view. Situated right on the edge of a little fishing village, we were able to get an authentic look into the lives and culture of the people of this region. The guided tour we took of the village was one of the highlights of our stay. The staff was exceptionally attentive and very kind and helpful. I loved the fact that the staff and services were comprised of people and resources from the local village. The food was very good and plentiful. and served In an open-air dining area with a nice ocean breeze and view of the ocean. The night we arrived, we were treated to a fresh coconut drink from a tree on the property that one of the staff members climbed to pick! I highly recommend this lovely family resort for a quiet, peaceful visit and will definitely stay there again next time I visit Cape Coast."
"There was a slight problem with the air conditioning. Otherwise, everything was excellent."
"It was very quiet and peaceful. The staff were very friendly and solved all problems."
"The bed was very noisy and needs to be fixed. The pool didn't look too clean."
"What a hidden gem in a pretty empty beautiful beach in Elmina! The staff was lovely and the location fantastic. I truly recommend it if you want to enjoy a non-touristic beach. The breakfast was also fresh and delicious."
"The building was still under construction (or something) and the WiFi not great. The air conditioning in our room was not working well one evening, but they offered to change rooms for us. The pool was not clean."
"Centrally located near the slave castles and right on the beach"

Lillian Lord's Hands Guesthouse Hotel
"Hosts very helpful, some things weren’t in the room initially, but as soon as we asked these were sorted. The location is great, with lovely views. There was some music locally (a Sunday night) but this stopped soon after 10pm. There was hot water. We could use the kitchen and staff helpful here too. Breakfast of eggs, bread and hot drink served at our convenience. Would stay again."

"The place is cozy, clean and the reception was excellent. It is a little away from the noise of the town but for those who love peace and quiet atmosphere, this is a haven. Shops to buy sundries are not far away about 5 to 10 minutes drive away. I love the quietness and serenity of the place. Good for relaxing and hosting of private meetings."
