Tucked away in Pottuvil, just a short walk from the surf point, this boutique hotel feels like a little slice of heaven. The design is so thoughtful — six cozy cabanas surrounded by nature, a beautiful pool, and the best mango lassis we’ve had in Sri Lanka. What truly made our stay unforgettable were the owners — a kind and welcoming Swiss couple who made us feel like part of their family. Their warmth, love, and attention to detail created an atmosphere that felt both homelike and magical. We loved being in this quieter corner of the coast, away from the busy center of Arugam Bay, where you can still surf, spot elephants by the beach (yes, really!), and reconnect with nature."

"This is a very special place. Beautifully laid out, in harmony with the natural environment, and thoughtfully designed - down to the little details like drinkable water on site, each cabana having its own water sprayer (for sandy feet), and a fan on each personal outdoor patio (other places I’ve stayed in Arugam Bay don’t have this!). I loved that the bathroom is outdoors - an ingenious solution to humid bathrooms where nothing dries - just be aware you may have a few bugs in the bathroom. Swimming pool is super nice. Catherine and Michel are wonderful hosts in every way, and the on-site restaurant is good. Overall, I highly recommend Babar Point - I hope to return someday!"

"I have no complaints! It is worth emphasizing that this is the Whisky Point area: quiet and remote (20+ minute tuk tuk ride to Arugam Bay). For some people (like me), this is a draw! However, if you want to be in close proximity to a variety of restaurants, shopping, nightlife, etc., then you would probably prefer staying in Arugam Bay itself."

"Big thanks to Katherine and Michelle—we absolutely loved it here! The room and garden design is super stylish, and they really pay attention to all the little details. The restaurant food was great—we ended up eating there for three days straight! :) They also work with a taxi company that’s very reasonably priced and super reliable—honestly better than PickMe. We used them for the rest of our trip around Sri Lanka. Just a heads-up: the sea right outside the hotel is a bit rough, so it’s not the best for swimming. But the pool is perfect, so definitely go for that instead!"

The hosts, Michelle and Catherine, were incredibly kind, accommodating, and responsive. The rest of the staff were incredible as well.
