"Great place to stay before going on a safari. The food was excellent and the overall ambiance of the place was really nice. There’s a pool and lots of plants around the property, which makes it feel very relaxing and close to nature. One thing to note: it’s best to call the owner before arriving because there isn’t always someone there to assist guests right away. Overall, it’s a lovely and peaceful spot to stay, especially if you’re preparing for an early safari the next day."

"We had a beautiful cabana with a view of the swimming pool set in stunning tropical gardens Our room was very comfortable with a large adjoining bathroom The room was well air conditioned including an additional ceiling fan. The room was well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. . To the front of our property was a covered patio area with two easy chairs and a hanging chair. Within a few steps was access to the beautifully maintained good sized swimming pool. Around the pool were sun beds hammocks and beanbag loungers. Adjacent to the pool was the breakfast area where we eere served a fabulous breakfast with a beautiful assortment of foods. A short distance across the gardens was a stunning open air thatched modern restaurant which served outstandingly prepared food. Most importantly, without exception all the staff put themselves out to make every minute of our stay memorable. We totally can recommend Richards Cananas"

"Absolutely gorgeous property, with a comfortable bed, lovely pool area and fabulous meals. The breakfast was sensational. The property is family run and grows much of its own produce. A delightful place to spend a couple of nights and good location to access Yala National Park."

"The property is very nice and clean. Our room was clean and comfortable. Amila was very welcoming and accommodating. He helped us set up our safari tours and our safari driver Dilp was awesome! He made sure we got to see leopards at the park! Overall a very good stay for us. Would recommend staying here!"

"Beautiful area with a very clean pool and comfortable beanbags. Arranged a great Safari for us with 4 leopard sightings and really great guides. Comfortable bed and feels in the heart of the jungle"

"Only Sri Lankan breakfast available and served spicy without asking. Some last minute communication with the host regarding details i.e. breakfast times etc. Lots of jungle noise at night if you're a light sleeper, a great experience but just to be aware of."

"Positives- Great location close to yala park Beautiful serene garden and pool Amazing breakfast and dinner (bought with fresh local ingredients & cooked homemade) so much food they prepare for you! They even packed us a cute basket for breakfast to take with us on safari at 5am, even though we didn’t book the safari through them Super nice staff"

"Negatives- We had an issue with the toilet not flushing properly The shower head pretty much broke as soon as we arrived.. Ants all around the bathroom (in the sink, in the toilet etc..)"

"Amazing place, super amazing family running the hotel. Rooms are very clean, everything is provided in the rooms, atmosphere is very nice and peaceful. The whole establishment is beautiful. Met with father and the son, very helpful people. In addition, they were able to arrange us safari on a very short notice and they even provided breakfast in the cutest prettiest basket ever (such a beautiful presentation, we had the best one in the whole safari groups)! Also the son was waiting for us at 5am with the basket, it was so nice."

"We arranged our safari with Richard’s cabana, it was amazing. Our guide was knowledgeable, patient and didn’t miss a thing. He even took professional quality photos and emailed them to us. The food was delicious and super large serving. We enjoyed everything we tried. It is a family owned resort and everyone in the family takes great pride in excellent service. The landscaping is beautiful. I would 100% recommend them."
