"Lovely location near Little Petra. Easily accessible, though last bit of road is gravel. We were the only guests (due to low tourist numbers in general), and our host Mohammed was very generous with his time and efforts to give us a great experience there. The cooking was superb for the two dinners we paid for, and the breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Heat was provided in the evenings to stave off the chilly weather. Our family of 5 enjoyed it immensely and would happily stay here again if we come back to Petra"

It's a camp, not a hotel. This is a huge plus in our minds, to be more out in nature and away from crowds. So there were no downsides for us, but you should come expecting a clamping experience, not a cushy one.

"This was such an amazing experience! I was skeptical about camping at first but I am so glad we did! We were taken care of the moment we arrived. The rooms were great and very clean with full bathrooms. They had lots of mosquito nets available for use and we slept great! The boat ride, night walk, and bonfire dinner were all so great! The place is beautiful and has so much to explore. We woke up early the next morning to do the safari and our guide, Pathum, was amazing and took us on a different route away from the other trucks so we were alone and saw all of the different animals. He also gave us his binoculars to use and regularly stopped and pointed out different animals for us to look at. We even got up close and personal to an elephant all by ourselves. I highly recommend for anyone looking to have a different experience!"

"I had such a great stay at Lac Castor! My hut was right on the lake and was well stocked with firewood and cooking utensils. It was a little more off-grid than I expected. It seems as though the huts lighting works from solar power only so the lights did start to cut out in the evening, there isn't much/any cell service and there weren't outlets to be able to charge my phone. The communal toilets however did have working outlets that could be used. But I would 100% stay here again! The site is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. Being able to take a canoe out onto the lake at sunset was just magic! And the staff are so friendly. I would highly recommend staying here!"

It would be nice to have more power to the huts, but I was very happy with it nonetheless.

"Great set up, breakfast, it poured with rain one night and the tent was dry as a bone. Dog loved it. Didn’t use the swimming pool but looked good for families. Good showers and communal cooking facilities."

"Staff was amazing. Rachel went above and beyond any call of duty to have us met from a late bus, organised a park trip and had us dropped in morrogoro. Nesto made sure we were safe in the campground. Breakfast was great, more like brunch.Highly recommend the camping but for the bravehearted...loved sitting around the campfire in the early hours of the morning, listening to the sound of silence and occasionalanimal call, watching the moon sail across the sky from the net window of the tent... the sister hotel nearby has lovely rooms, at a very reasonable rate."
