"This property is thoughtfully prepared, expertly landscaped and commands a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and beautifully furnished. The infinity pool was a lovely way to relax at the end of the day. Mr G was our reliable cab driver during our stay, driving us to dinner, Saturday market and the Xunantunich ruins. Our best adventure was a guided tour of the ATM cave through Belize Caving Expeditions which Luis arranged for us. Francisco was our cave guide. He was excellent and quite knowledgeable. We would stay at Villa Cayo again"

The bed was a little soft for us

"Super friendly and nice owner! I contacted Sifa via WhatsApp and his response was very fast. He picked me up at the airport even at 2am, and showed me around the quiet city, quickly. He was very helpful to bring me to the SIM card shop and the market on the next day:)"

basically, nothing. Maybe, the room can be darker at night (I prefer a dark room to sleep).

"The Queen Suite was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was excellent with a nice variety over the several days we were there. We were able to travel to the different areas on the island in good time from our location. Drew was helpful with local restaurant suggestions for our evening meals."

"Staff is so lovely here. We booked 4 rooms for 5 of us and didn't realize that meant we had the whole property! It was like having our own house. We could sit around the fire in our pajamas and drink wine and play games. It was a lovely stay."

The two rooms on the first floor are definitely not the same as the two rooms on the top floor. So book the bigger rooms.

It was hard to find and away from restaurants

"Everything. This is on the top of the list of places I need to come back to. The surroundings and the tranquility are bliss for all senses. The small cabin has all the basics. The beds were very comfy - haven’t slept so well for a long time. Having to walk a couple of steps outside to get to the bathroom and to get water added to the nostalgia - this was what cabins were like in my childhood. However, here you get a modern toilet and a shower in a nice warm bathroom. We did not have that luxury. The small museum was very interesting. The host was nice and inviting and he has a lot of knowledge of the past and present in the area. There are possibilities of renting kayaks- and canoes not far from the property. Unfortunately we only stayed for one night this time. But we most certainly will be back to explore the lake and the surroundings."

"Unique and charming house. You can see a lot of thoughts were put in the decoration and small details. Very well equipped with bikes and kayak as well as beach towels etc. Fabrice sat down with us to give tips and recommendation on the island and was always available during our stay. Overall very good value given it can accommodate four people for a very fair price."

Don’t forget to bring your earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

The bed was a little soft for us

"Joyce is SO nice and the grounds are immaculate. We booked Sangota Falls Lodge for a rest night before leaving the next day after being on Safari. The lodge's grounds are quiet and peaceful. The plants are so pretty and well taken care of. We booked meals with Joyce and they were very good. She used fresh strawberries from the gardens for parts of it! I would definitely stay at Sangota again and can confidently say it was a peaceful oasis from the noise and business of the city."

There was a problem with the hot water at one point (it is primarily wood fired and for some reason wasn't flowing to our cabin). The staff was very quick to help us and ultimately switched to the backup electrical heating, which worked fine.

"Everything was perfect from check-in to check-out. The room was ready at the mentioned time. The room was quite spacious, and we really enjoyed the authentic room decoration and other Chettinad Amenities in the Mansion. The AC and hot water were quite effective. The staffs were helpful for the Night dinner outs in Karaikudi and other arrangements. Credit card payment is accepted. They have limited parking inside."

"We booked it based on the location right on the river and the views of the tombs which did not disappoint. It is right near the main strip and close to everything. The staff are super friendly and we played backgammon and chatted with the owner a lot. He was very helpful with setting up our boat trip and offering fishing rods for our two boys. The rooms are very small but you only need them for sleeping since we spent most of the rest of our time in the common area by the river."
