"This is a SUPERB place to stay. Location: right in the middle of the Centro Histórico, a 2 minute walk from whatever you might need. Comfort: quiet, great mattress, extra pillows on the bed, hot shower with good pressure. Extras: included coffee and tea, places to sit and read, a book exchange, beautiful architecture, an electric heater in the room, really good breakfast with unusually good bread. Staff: super friendly, relaxed, and helpful. An excellent value and a great night's sleep. 10/10"

"This hotel is absolutely gorgeous! If you love historic buildings, you will adore the ambience of this well-decorated 1700's stone accommodation. The host went above and beyond to help us find a restaurant for dinner and get transportation to the places we needed to go. He is THE guy who developed the Quilatoa Loop for international hikers to enjoy! He stored our luggage for us while we were on the 3-day trek, and then arranged transport for us to Banos - twice! (Our first taxi put us all in the car and then said we were too heavy and she couldn't take us anywhere 🤣🤣. She was so apologetic.) I cannot recommend this hotel enough."

"The hotel has a history and is very simple. But the rooms themselves are uncomfortable, dark, and the furniture is old. One suggestion would be to offer hot water for tea instead of warm."

"I highly recommend staying at the Gollden Rest! It’s a beautiful building with lots of history (used to belong to a Spanish aristocrat). The courtyard shuts out the street noises it’s in the center of town so all facilities close at hand. Staff are knowledgeable about hiking, the owner invented the Quilatoa loop. You can store you luggage when you go out for multiday hikes. Stayed here twice."

"It is a beautiful hacienda in a great location of Latacunga. It offers an amazing view from the roof top and has a very nice breakfast. The coca tea was helpful in the morning to prepare for the hikes in altitude at Cotopaxi and Las Ilinizas."
