"Lovely old property with pleasant staff and good en suite facilities. Tasty breakfast."

"Maid’s and Footman’s Rooms have very low beams so ‘risky’ if you are over 6’ tall. Access stairs also VERY steep."

"A beautiful property in a lovely scenic location with the added benefit of being close to the A1. Slightly surreal being the only guest the night I stayed but well worth the experience. I can totally see why it is a very popular venue for the wedding market too."

"Nothing to dislike"

Kdrew - 09/05/2025 21:27:31

"Spotlessly clean, location Is wonderful. Leo was really friendly. So much history in this building. Clean, crisp bedding, lovely Molton Brown toiletries, so quiet in the village, gorgeous, plentiful breakfast. Would def stay again. Safe parking for motorbikes too. Couldnt fault it. So glad we found it."

"We found out he's not doing bnb anymore, which is so sad, but, however, if you want an amazing venue for a celebration, this is your place !!"

"nice b&b in a village close to York next to a bus stop which links York with the moors countryside and coastal towns. convenient to visit both York and Whitby/Scarborough especially if you have a car. feels like a home than a hotel."

"Excellent service. Nice location and friendly staff. Well informed. Water pressure in the bathroom was very good and enjoyed the shower. Clean and queit rooms and comfortable to stay."

"The property is beautifully decorated in a great location."

"Room was exceptional with a bath for wife, very quiet nice windows and a view over to York Minsiter. Very clean and comfortable bed. Breakfast is excellent also, very hot and fresh, Lisa is a great laugh and good to chat with. Hope to retuen again next NYE. Thank June, was really nice to see you again."

"Staff were excellent, especially the lady who served us breakfast 👍"

"Staying in a 500 year old inn that was the home of a famous revolutionary was a fascinating experience. It was by far the oldest room I've ever slept in and I wondered at length as to who had been born, and died in that space. It is next door to Yorkminster, the ancient cathedral of York and a great location all around. The food for both breakfast and dinner was delicious and staff were friendly and efficient. Be prepared for uneven floors and doorways that aren't square, but if to want that, stay in a newer hotel. We loved every minute. Great bar too!"

"The view. The bed was the comfiest!! There was everything we needed"

"Easy check in and check out, The room was quite large and clean."
