"The lord and lady of the house were very accommodating friendly. It's an old house but kept spotless. The staff were top notch."

"What a great place! Warmly greeted by the property owner when we first arrived. Shook our hands, introduced himself, and seemed to take a sincere interest in our UK trip and our comfort at his "home". It seemed that all staff shared in same mindset. Had nice chats with the groundskeeper, breakfast server, etc. Service exceptional. Grounds had beautiful gardens and area was quiet and restful and yet good access to the area. We used this location to go to Jane Austen's home and surroundings (about 25 minute drive) plus Hinton Ampner (a National Trust property, nearby). A nearby village (East Meon) had two very good pubs where we ate during our two night stay. The House had a comfortable living room area, where there was a fire lit (seemingly) just for us. Breakfast was better than average. Say yes to the croissant."
"The shower was plenty hot and powerful, but shower surround made it difficult to avoid getting water on the bathroom floor. The room itself was on the top floor and I had to be careful not to bump my head on the slanted ceiling. Will get a room with uniform clearance next time."
"- Very nice, courteous and friendly owners and staff - Very well maintained and comfortable rooms - Wonderful breakfast served in the morning - Staff willing to help all the time"

"Staying in a 500 year old inn that was the home of a famous revolutionary was a fascinating experience. It was by far the oldest room I've ever slept in and I wondered at length as to who had been born, and died in that space. It is next door to Yorkminster, the ancient cathedral of York and a great location all around. The food for both breakfast and dinner was delicious and staff were friendly and efficient. Be prepared for uneven floors and doorways that aren't square, but if to want that, stay in a newer hotel. We loved every minute. Great bar too!"
