Trenython Manor Resort

Fowey, Fowey, PL24 2TS, United Kingdom

Set in 24 acres of beautiful landscaped grounds and woodland areas with panoramic views overlooking St. Austell Bay, Trenython Manor Resort has earned the reputation of being one of the premier locations on the Cornish Riviera for fine dining, friendly accommodations and total relaxation. The elegant manor itself has tremendous character, featuring many exquisite Italian details, particularly in the admirable entrance hall. The Egyptian pillars standing inside the front door originated from the Temple of Ephesus and are said to be thousands of years old. Trenython Manor is an architectural treasure, in 1872 an Italian architect commissioned by General Garibaldi, who is commonly called the father of the contemporary Italy, designed the building. Other notable objects that can still be seen today include General Wolf’s Headboard, Lord Nelson’s Sea Chest, the dining room walls with carved oak panels and some Italian marbles sent over by Garibaldi which are now in the bistro. Tastefully renovated to the highest standards, the resort combines Italian architecture with English character to propose an oasis of tranquility and a truly unique holiday experience. The extensive range of on-site facilities includes two restaurants, a bar, private dinning room, conference room, a fully equipped indoor swimming swimming pool, sauna and Gym, while Balneotherapy Area treatment guestrooms make available the ultimate in relaxation and rejuvenation. The Manor is as well licensed to host civil ceremony in a variety of settings; the Gott Suite, a converted chapel with beautiful stained-glass windows and a coastal scene backdrop. Or the Du Maurier Suite with wrap around windows and doors leading out onto the splendid sun terrace. A dedicated co-ordinator who will help with every last detail of the wedding day. Over 30 self-catering cottages and lodges, dotted around Trenython Manor’s natural grounds, are furnished and equipped to high standards. Each has a fully fitted kitchen and lounge area, as well as a private patio on which to sit and listen to resident birdsong or watch the ever changing skies over St Austell Bay. If you prefer, stroll along the stunning nearby beaches, or explore the unspoiled scenery and local treasures at your leisure. The Eden Project, one of the world’s most renowned biomes, is just a short drive away from the area, which makes it an ideal spot for a memorable day out.

"Our room was exceptional, beautiful view to the sea and very spacious, breakfast and dinner was good although would have liked a greater variety on menu for dinner. Walking through the forest on the property was a bonus - so beautiful in autumn."

"Hotel staff were lovely, extremely helpful and professional. The location was stunning, beautiful sea view, close to the beach, fantastic grounds. The bar and restaurant were good. It was family/kid friendly but also elegant and quiet. Rooms were a good size. Pool was nice for kids, not a spa vibe though, more family-play oriented. Would absolutely book again, great value."

"Breakfast could have been better in terms of food quality and selection, but was still a pleasant experience and the dining room was pretty. The carpet in the bedroom absolutely needed replacing or at the very least deep-cleaning. Housekeeping service was very limited, the room never really felt clean, more just towels changed and coffee replaced. Also would have been nice if they’d hoovered once during our 4 night stay. Wifi wasn’t great and no sockets next to bed. None of these issues would stop me booking again though, improvements would have just made it better."

"Cottage was amazing!! So spacious clean and well equipped. Swimming pool facilities and booking system good. Very clean"

"Limited menu. Would have liked more choice generally and would have expected menu to change daily but apparently it is the same most of the year.? Very restricted!! We only ate there twice for that reason. Its occasion service was awful second occasion they had a matre de and things improved greatly. But still slow service and long waiting time. We ate in restaurant 2nd time but first time was in bar and not good. Not enough vegan/ veg choice for me either!"

"Nice location to stay for Eden, spacious hotel and grounds. Mixed experiences with the staff."

"We were very confused with the dine-in restaurant and the pricing works, different menus, prices and ambiguous information was presented to us and It looks like lodging, catering and wellness were all separate businesses trying to win business from each other, I would suggest they sort this out for the sake of customers."

"Nice hotel, there was one girl who came to serve my partner drinks, she slammed cups etc into the bar and then served my partner with no hello etc, no thankyou or anything, seemed moody and pissed off. All other staff were fine. The girl in question was fine the next day but that first encounter with her wasn't professional at all. She had black trainers on which were falling apart and just didn't look in keeping with the hotel."

"As above the girl who had no manners and slamming things around."

"Absolutely loved our stay at Trenython Manor, the building is so impressive. We had a very spacious room with a lovely garden terrace, we really didn't want to leave. Staff were so friendly and helpful. We mainly booked here as we were looking for leisure facilities and were not disappointed. Would definitely recommend a stay here."

"All the staff were very helpful and very friendly. The proprietress Anne goes out of her way to help."

"It’s a lovely house and the landlords made the family feel at home the minute we stepped in. Double room for us downstairs and two adjacent bedrooms for our teenage children upstairs. Another couple was staying and we shared the drawing room/bar with them to watch the semi finals of Euro 2024. Very clean and pleasant home, great breakfast, good hiking, a few minutes by car to the beach."
