"The room (igloo looking one) was great. The view from the restaurant was breathtaking. I have heard all rooms are not equal so make sure you check but ours was great. I witnessed one of the owners go out of his way and help a couple out beyond what normal management would do. They truly care about you not just your money."

"This is the most exquisite property!! Acres of gardens tucked into the jungle, crowded with tropical birds and every plant imaginable. The buildings are adobe style. We had a larger room with a terrace which was great since I was ill for some days and I was able to sit and listen to the birds with delightful view of the gardens and the lake The dining room serves great food. Breakfast included wonderful. Very short tuk tuk ride into the town. Restaurant staff were beyond helpful and kind"

"The bathroom needs major upgrades. The antique tile floor may be historic but can’t be cleaned. Taking a shower is an ordeal. After the hot water comes in, you must set it to the hottest you can stand, then lather up quickly before it switches abruptly to ice cold. If you can stand it the water will go back to scalding just as abruptly. Hope they can fix this problem soon"

"We rented 5 cabins for our group of 7. Staff was so accommodating, learned our names and preferences in the restaurant. The location was ideal for being picked up by boat or van. We loved the pool, jacuzzi, and sauna and privacy of the cabins."

"My fiance and I had the most incredible stay at Hotel Bambu. Alvaro and the staff exceeded our expectations and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. They helped us set up excursions and transportation to/from Guatemala City and Antigua, and one of the owners even personally drove us to make sure we got to where we needed to go. Our room was STUNNING overlooking the lake with a jacuzzi - we barely wanted to leave the hotel!"

"The food was very good in the restaurant & the packed lunch for our tour with Diego was plentiful. Diego was an excellent tour guide up in the mountains in our search for the illusive Quetzal bird. He showed us many plants & birds & explained about the cooperative farming on the mountain side."
