Guest reviews for Basalt Hotel

"This place was so amazing!! So amazingly comfortable, stylish, and luxurious after some very sub par places that I stayed in Iceland. The staff was so helpful, the rooms were comfortable and spacious, the included breakfast was great and a total surprise bonus, and the outdoor tub and surrounding property were so beautiful and memorable. Highly Highly reccomend! Totally worth it!"

"Aucun."

"Remotely located, which is a great thing, as it was quiet and we saw the Northern Lights with no difficulty, no crowd, and hearts full of joy. Super-clean room, modern, everything works, everything is cozy. Zero-entry shower (no tub) is a great touch. With floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides, revealing rural views, the breakfast/dining room is fantastic. My favorite Iceland hotel. Basalt Hotel is in a fine location, reasonably proximate to Thingvellier National park."

"It's not such a negative but be prepared, the road in-out that runs north-south (52) is in large part hardpacked gravel but lots of loose gravel, ruts, and potholes. A vehicle with some road clearance helps."

"We used the hotel as a base to explore Peninsula the first day and move on to the Golden Triangle (through the north avoiding a lot of traffic). Although in a remote location, it served that purpose well. The facilities were more than adequate. The staff, particularly in the evening, were great. The hot tub was a nice surprise."

"The dinner menu, particularly if staying for 2 meals (there are no nearby alternatives), left something to be desired. The breakfast was at best average. A washing machine for guests would be nice."

"The breakfast was wonderful. The location was beautiful and serene and offered an amazing sunset view. There were destinations (falls and top of hill) to hike right from the beautifully designed small intimate hotel. The hot tub was wonderfully designed as well and landscaped for privacy. The clean modern design of the hotel was appreciated and admired."

"The location was a little further out than expected requiring driving on a gravel road (and we had a rental that specified no gravel roads). While the design and furnishings were sleek scan-design ...a little more insulation between rooms would have been an improvement."

"The hotel is very nice, clean, amazing view from the tubs, nice staff and restaurant food was delicious."

"No bathroom fan/ventilation"

"Very nice hotel with nice stay. Super nice view. It worth for money."

"Very isolated from everything. I thought we got lost in direction at first 😅."

"Fourth time staying here. Always great place in a remote area. Staff was great."

"Rates have been increasing substantially."

"We loved this area of Iceland, we were exploring so late that we didn't arrive until 10 min before closing- and had an early morning departure- the staff was so very kind to make us a breakfast to go since we were leaving before breakfast. The hot tub is situated with an amazing view- the rooms are clean and my one complaint would be that the rooms provided have twin beds. Great for the second room we had to get for our young children, but not ideal for couples who are used to sleeping in the same bed! I would also add that the shower soap could be more high end- the shampoo and conditioner felt very 'cheap' and not at all luxury like the Icelandic hand soap provided, and there was no body wash provided."

"Shower shampoo and conditioner, lack of body wash."

"The staff was very friendly, the room was very clean and spacious, the food was great, and the views were stunning. We would not have changed a thing! This was our favorite place that we stayed in Iceland."

"Aucun."

"Nice spacious flat with excellent view. Nice furniture. Crossfit equipment there as it used to be a gym studio."

"Inside nice had everything we needed. Outside not so much"

"The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed plus some extra perks like coffee and cookies. The location was extremely beautiful being located near the bottom of a mountain and conveniently located near Vik."

"The best apartment I visited this year. Everything is brand new, extremely well thought out, and beautifully executed. The design is outstanding, the space is generous, and everything is very comfortable and practical. Located in a great area. I have absolutely no complaints — for the first time, I’m giving a 10 out of 10."

"We moved to the apartment instead of the caravan, so the review is for that instead. The apartment was great. In fact, the entire town is wonderful, and a stay here is magical. What made it extra special is Thomas. He takes fabulous care of his guests, he is fun and friendly, and is one of the best hosts we've ever had. He gave us tips for the island and a level of assistance like I've never seen before. We met his wife only briefly, but she was lovely as well. If you're looking for somewhere to stay on the island, look no further!"
