It would be great to add some blackout curtains to the main living area for those who sleep in that space during the summer. The blackout curtains in the bedroom were very nice!

"Loved the welcoming party of horses, very friendly yellow labs, and a cat as we drove down the driveway :-). It was an amazing spacious place for our family to stay. So nice to be able to cook for ourselves and do laundry and stay out in the country but close to town. One tip for future guests: we received from the hosts instructions for " filling up" the hot tub. The hot tub upon arrival was already full of water but not hot, so we were initially confused about what to do .If this is the case for you, still follow the given instructions to turn on the red taps (except possibly open only the hot tap not cold tap during the heating up period to speed things up). don't worry, the hot tub will not overfill, it will just add new hot water and drain excess water until it is the right temperature. (This may be an iceland-specific hot tub heating method due to the geothermal hot water source, not sure!)"

There was a placard near the tv about a wifi network but it must just have been turned off while we were there (the wifi network was just not showing up at all) and we could not find the router to try to troubleshoot for the life of us! It was Christmas Eve, which delayed our host's ability to respond to us immediately. Additionally, we blew the power fuses multiple times, maybe our fault for running too many kitchen and laundry appliances at once. But it was easily reset at the hallway fuse box. Besides these hiccups, it was a great place for us!

"The Sauna is a pleasure. We used is every days The location is great - a sense of a real wilderness. With clear sky one night we could see the aurora really good (see images). It was also close to the ice and lava caves. The house is full of useful stuff - barbecue, food etc. It’s a genuine summer house used by the owner so the feeling is that you get an authentic experience"

The parking is 80-100 meters from the house. Bear in mind if you need to take the luggage, especially when the weather is bad. As this is a rural place, the road to it could be blocked if it’s snowing heavily. We arrived after a few snowy days and it was fine, but left just before a blizzard. The shower is outside the house - in the sauna cabin 2 meters from the house. I didn’t mind but my little daughters didn’t like it.

"Great location in the beautiful small town of Seyðisfjörður. Excellent area for easy walking around town, and one of the few places where the hot water lacked the sulphury scent. We met the owner briefly while getting our luggage into the house who was very pleasant. In retrospect, I would have spent an extra day here to really take in the sights, but it turned out in our best interest since the snow was coming in and making the roads through the mountains slick."

Staircase up was a bit precarious, but that's a minor nitpick.

"From the moment we stepped from our car we knew we were in for a treat. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Good assortment of snacks and drinks. Great collection of vintage furniture in an open welcoming space. For those who see beauty in the ordinary, or in this case, extraordinarily we appreciated everything the vocal performance of the hallway rug to the loon calls outside our window. That said we might suggest some earplugs to drown out the sounds of sweet dreams from your neighbors. Overall unique and charming, we had fun. Absolutely will be staying again."

The sink in our room was ornamental, as it drew no water.

"Very nice small guest house. Check-in was clear and the owner lived right next-door. She was very helpful when some other guests didn’t know how to work the stove. The room was small, but clean, that was the shared bathroom. Having a kitchen to cook in was also great."

For a small room with a twin bed and a shared bathroom, the price was high. The bed was comfortable, but only had one pillow and no linens were provided

"The kitchen! Even it was small, but super equipped! Top stove, oven (where we baked a few pizzas), dishwasher, coffee maker, fridge, toaster, pots and pans, a beautiful china… was amazing."

We found it really good, in a convenient location, near bus stops to go anywhere, and also walking distance to the Cathedral and Downtown. Perhaps a vending machine with drinks and snacks for late night cravings would help.
