Hostels in Iceland

"One of the better hostels I’ve stayed at, conveniently located next to the bus station and a short walk into the town. Luggage storage for when you want to head into the mountains. Bathrooms are cleaned regularly, as well as the kitchen and rooms. Very social atmosphere with the common areas having lots of seating and the staff being warm and welcoming. Ramado was an absolutely gem of a host, super helpful with advice :)"

- would have been great if there were a kettle for guests' use. Needed some hot water to soothe my stomach and had to ask the staff to boil a cup for me.

The washroom area is very less and can be little more clean.

Provide some décent knifes, cutting boards, and paint a bit the outside kitchen to make it more welcoming and it will be a 10. Anyhow it is a good choice if you're on a budget.

"I stayed here after I had done a 12 day tour trough Mongolia. I just needed a room and shower for myself, since I didn’t have that for over a month (I was traveling elsewhere before the 12 day tour). I stayed 2 nights and the bed was super comfortable! The whole place is nice and clean and very close to a market where they sell everything for very cheap. It’s also an easy 20 minute walk from the central square. The lady was very nice and let me stay a bit longer on the day I had to check out, which was really helpful for me. Thanks again!"

"Best location, right in the Old Town but on a rather small and calm street. Walking distance from the railway station (20 minutes), and to all interesting places in the center. Lovely restaurants and bars all around. Easy to find and to check-in digitally at late night. Only four beds in the room but still low price. From the first minute, this hostel felt welcoming and very cosy. Easy to relate to other guests, maybe because of the nice atmosphere. Kitchen very well equipped and with a large table for eating or playing games."

Textile carpeting in the dormitory. It felt clean enough, but not very easy to keep sane.

"Quiet spot that's a short walk to the harbor where Nuuk Water Taxi and the Arctic Umiaq line leave from. The host was very friendly and helpful with luggage storage. Small place with only 3 rooms and a shared kitchen."

Wasn't a problem for me but as a warning you must climb up a lot of stairs to get in.

"Kelly and his family are amazing hosts. We feel in family! :-) Kelly is so helpful and talkative, always able to give suggestions and help finding activities to do, contacts, etc. His son, Junior, went with us to many places and activities and we fell him like a younger brother! :-) All the family made us feel welcome and at "home far from home". Installations are simple, but in a nice location, in the countryside, quite and friendly place, not far from Goroka center/easy bus connections but we have everything we needed, even to cook our meals. If you want a simple and family place to stay, with someone who will help you around, this is the place! If once I go back PNG and Goroka, I'll stay here again! :-) Thanks Kelly, Junior and family! Hope to see you again!"

It's normal to have light and water cuts. But it's common in the region/general problem and not from the place.

The kitchen facilities are a bit tricky because one kitchen is so small (one person can fit) and the upstairs kitchen has little sitting (except outside if the weather allows).

"Well located hostel just by Tavolucci bus stop, which meets Rimini shuttle. Very nice man running the place, does his best to answer any question. Ask him for directions to old town; there's a way up that'll keep you mostly off the dangerous roads, which lack any shoulder. Place has good kitchen, comfortable common area. Limited but enough hot water in showers. Very grateful for this budget option in San Marino, which can be pricey."

Freezing cold at night in dorm. It was warm just outside in hallway, so I don't know what the secret is to getting that into the room. Also, would be nice, more efficient, to have male dorm and let the guys use the three-shower room, rather than letting women lock it for one. Make one of the en suites the female dorm. Odd to pay for linens; just add to price. No outlets in dorm, but understandable in old building.

The stairs are a bit challenging, but it's part of being at water's edge.

"Just a regular hostel with rooms. The walls are thin so you can easily hear some noise from other guests. If you need the place just to stay somewhere and rest - it’s OK, but don’t expect anything special from it."

"From where should I start, I have no idea. But to be honest, to have such a homestay in such a small town at a reasonable price is something unimaginable. It's a heaven for solo travellers since it won't break your banks. The breakfast was delicious and changed everyday, and there are vegeterian options also for both lunch and dinner. Their staff Eta and Mimi are cool and polite and will take your requests carefully. The location is bit far from the town, in a village not very far from the beach, but you can find microlets running during the school hours going towards the city. The best thing I liked was the whale-watching group tour which was very reasonably priced and I enjoyed the company of Fernando who's the owner of all DaTerra hostels. Overall, don't hesitate to stay here if you are a solo traveller. This is the best option for you."

Nothing to complain about but mobile internet can be slow here, so be prepared. You can't really complain because the location is bit remote but the vibes are peaceful there and if you are someone who's not addicted to internet you'll definitely love the place hehe.

The push shower was the only thing I did not like but that really doesn’t matter much.
