"University from the 1700's for crying out loud. What is not to like? Regard the incredible architectural edifices. A 15-minute walk leads to Quinpool Road where there are many shops, grocery stores, and late-night restaurants, brewpubs, and coffee shops. Bus to downtown Halifax, to and from, is a snap (# 1 down Coburg / Spring Garden Road) University dorm accom in Halifax, various campuses, is incredible value. Book EARLY though!"

My only 'grump' is the heavy banging of the entry door to the dormitory, folks coming and going and NOT being mindful to the gorilla-sized BANG of the door closing behind them. This was not an issue for me; but for my partner it most certainly was, I am not sure that anything can be done about the door itself. We DID bring this matter to the attention of the front desk-and the folks there were very understanding and in agreement. The shared bathroom / showers set-up was absolutely agreeable-no complaints.

The kitchen facilities are a bit tricky because one kitchen is so small (one person can fit) and the upstairs kitchen has little sitting (except outside if the weather allows).

"Staff & location are excellent. Everything was clean too. Lockers are free & very big. But it is a hostel, so it mostly depends upon who you get for roommates on how much you sleep, or not. Overall, would do it again."

The approach of the owner was a bit dissatisfactory after we had been delayed at the immigration office in Chimoio.

Little bit out of the city but still close enough to bus station and a cheap taxi ride back from town if you don't want to walk up the hill.

"Nice studio and well equipped. The studio is situated in a beautiful inner garden of the house with trees which provide shade and there is a table where you can stay and drink a coffe and relax. Nice and helpful owner. Free Parking on the street. Close to public transport which takes you to the city center."

"From where should I start, I have no idea. But to be honest, to have such a homestay in such a small town at a reasonable price is something unimaginable. It's a heaven for solo travellers since it won't break your banks. The breakfast was delicious and changed everyday, and there are vegeterian options also for both lunch and dinner. Their staff Eta and Mimi are cool and polite and will take your requests carefully. The location is bit far from the town, in a village not very far from the beach, but you can find microlets running during the school hours going towards the city. The best thing I liked was the whale-watching group tour which was very reasonably priced and I enjoyed the company of Fernando who's the owner of all DaTerra hostels. Overall, don't hesitate to stay here if you are a solo traveller. This is the best option for you."

Nothing to complain about but mobile internet can be slow here, so be prepared. You can't really complain because the location is bit remote but the vibes are peaceful there and if you are someone who's not addicted to internet you'll definitely love the place hehe.

"A very nice and atmospheric resort. Beautiful surroundings. Lots of parking spaces. There is a gazebo on site where you can barbecue and spend a nice evening. Additionally, a small playground for children. The rooms are very clean. Two toilets and 3 shower cabins per floor."

It didn’t bother me but our room was adjacent road which has some car traffic. Closing the window blocked most traffic sound.

"I came from Mumbai to Addis Ababa, then took a bus from Addis to Bahir Dar. This hostel was a gem with the value you pay. I asked them to buy the return bus ticket, pick up to the bus station in the early morning and they happily did. The best part was they helped me get an excellent tour package of the Lake Tana and the Blue Niles Waterfall, with very good price for one day, as I was tight with my schedule. The tour went very well with excellent and safe vehicles (car and boat), great guides, and all important places. The room I got has a queen size bed, shower and toilet attached, with good privacy and cleanliness. I stayed two nights and will do it again when I have a chance.Please support this property as well as the Bahir Dar. They are waiting and very happy to serve you to the best of their abilities."

"The beds were clean and had mosquito nets. The room was spacious with only 4 beds. There's an AC in the room and 2 fans. The location is good; it's like a village on the western side of the city. It is safe even walking at night. There are small shops nearby. You can buy basic stuff and cook in the fully equipped kitchen. The beaches are 15-20 minutes walking or 5 min by tuktuk. The fast ferry to the airport is just 10 min walking distance. The staff were ok and helpful. The view from the balcony is great. It's the cheapest place in town. In fact it's the only hostel in Freetown on Booking.com. They have a generator in case of power cuts. The wifi is fast."

The toilet needs a bit of cleaning and maintenance. There's no hot water and the water pressure is weak. The generator is right under the dorm window; very loud. But still; you get what you pay for. A basic hotel in the area is 3-4 times more expensive.

"I stayed here after I had done a 12 day tour trough Mongolia. I just needed a room and shower for myself, since I didn’t have that for over a month (I was traveling elsewhere before the 12 day tour). I stayed 2 nights and the bed was super comfortable! The whole place is nice and clean and very close to a market where they sell everything for very cheap. It’s also an easy 20 minute walk from the central square. The lady was very nice and let me stay a bit longer on the day I had to check out, which was really helpful for me. Thanks again!"

"I had an amazing stay at this hostel! The staff were incredible, especially Alexander he was super friendly, always available, and ready to help with anything. He really made the experience even better❤️❤️❤️. The room was very clean, and the bathroom was spotless too. they have a professional cleaner everything was well taken care of. The kitchen was fully furnished, clean, and easy to use 👌👌. Most importantly, I had so much fun staying here. The atmosphere was great, and I felt comfortable the whole time. "Kelly and his family are amazing hosts. We feel in family! :-) Kelly is so helpful and talkative, always able to give suggestions and help finding activities to do, contacts, etc. His son, Junior, went with us to many places and activities and we fell him like a younger brother! :-) All the family made us feel welcome and at "home far from home". Installations are simple, but in a nice location, in the countryside, quite and friendly place, not far from Goroka center/easy bus connections but we have everything we needed, even to cook our meals. If you want a simple and family place to stay, with someone who will help you around, this is the place! If once I go back PNG and Goroka, I'll stay here again! :-) Thanks Kelly, Junior and family! Hope to see you again!"

It's normal to have light and water cuts. But it's common in the region/general problem and not from the place.
