Guest reviews for Day Dream Hellnar
"Old but charming. Has a small yet well-equipped kitchen. Windows throughout, except for one windowless bedroom. The home is perfect for viewing the Aurora Borealis, and we were lucky to see an incredible show on our first night without leaving the property. All bedrooms are upstairs and accessed by very steep stairs, so we would not recommend this property for elderly guests, those with mobility issues, or small children -- we believe this was mentioned beforehand in the booking. The owner was responsive and available to help with our concerns about a cleanliness issue, and they provided a solution quickly."
"All bedrooms are upstairs and accessed by very steep stairs, so we would not recommend this property for elderly guests, those with mobility issues, or small children -- we believe this was mentioned beforehand in the booking but it was not stairs it is a sort of a ladder. Coffe machine has green molds already and it seemed like it hasn't been cleaned for weeks. The linens and towels are musty."
"It was a very nice clean property. The beds were comfortable and it was very spacious."
"There wasn’t anything we didn’t like about the property. Overall, it’s a very good night stay for the value."
"Beautiful and peaceful location. Easy self-check in and out. The home was lovely, as expected, and it had everything we needed! The cafe just down the road was a great place to start our days as well."
"The staircase was more challenging than I’d expected it to be, even after I’d read the other reviews. I would definitely still recommend staying here, but people with physical disabilities or issues with balance/coordination/vertigo might not be able to use the stairs to the upstairs bedrooms. We chose to leave some luggages downstairs because of this."
"Lovely cottage. Well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable beds."
"Stairs to sleeping area are very steep. Practically a ladder! Place could have been cleaner."
"Location and views. - space Beds outstanding. No coffee or anything. Overall Comfortable"
"Bathroom small. No closets or hangers. No clothes line for our unit. Dish sponges were old and used"
"The location is stunning and was perfect for exploring Snæfellsnes."

"The location with the view of the sea one side and the glacier capped mountains one side"
"It's a little cramped with no privacy between rooms"
"Excellent location. Clean. Comfortable. Very spacious."
"The steep steps to second floor (although we were warned about them and they were uniquely cut to make the steepness more ergonomic.)"
"The house was clean and charmingly light filled. It is half of a house, in a small area of about 6 or 8 homes, all of which appear to be rentals in the same style, very near the Fosshotel Hellnar. I loved all the windows, and the views of fields, a tiny church and the glacier. The downstairs was spacious and bright. We let ourselves in easily with a lockbox."
"At night, even though it was summer, the wind whistled and howled through the house and the frame shook. We didn't mind - made it feel more authentic than a hotel stay. The home was clean, but the bathroom and kitchen were a little old and very basic. There was only one (skimpy) towels per person. Other sites have detailed reviews of this property, and they discuss the steep steps. I think that is a misnomer. The "steps" are really just a ladder. Not for the elderly or little kids. Even for us, it just made it a pain to come down to use the (only) bathroom. Also, if you have big luggage, it is almost impossible to carry it upstairs so we had it all over the living room... almost nowhere else to put it."
"Space on ground floor. Arctic fox visited on one night!"
"Steep stairs, almost a ladder. Room doors and thin bedroom walls do not stop internal noise."

"The best apartment I visited this year. Everything is brand new, extremely well thought out, and beautifully executed. The design is outstanding, the space is generous, and everything is very comfortable and practical. Located in a great area. I have absolutely no complaints — for the first time, I’m giving a 10 out of 10."

"We moved to the apartment instead of the caravan, so the review is for that instead. The apartment was great. In fact, the entire town is wonderful, and a stay here is magical. What made it extra special is Thomas. He takes fabulous care of his guests, he is fun and friendly, and is one of the best hosts we've ever had. He gave us tips for the island and a level of assistance like I've never seen before. We met his wife only briefly, but she was lovely as well. If you're looking for somewhere to stay on the island, look no further!"
