"The staff, the location, the "beach", the food, the atmosphere..."

"Nothing"

"Beautiful, comfortable and clean spot right on the river. There’s a dock for swimming, a couple sun chairs and a nice common area"

"A little ways from the center so helpful to have a scooter or rent an e-bike to get into town. They have a solar powered boat shuttle that goes every hour but it’s a little slow"

Yingchun - 24/01/2026 14:34:37

"The environment is very good especially the bar. I like the staff who take care of everything so well. Thanks a lot. Will come again in the future!"

"The upper beds are too high. Not good for specific people."

"Everything were flawless.Room was clean, designed lovely ,it feels that you would stay a local home..It is located on the bank of River((Nam Khan)Free shuttle boat to old city was very useful .One time Mekong river sunset cruise with their solar boat was included in room rate!Meals were simple but delicious and budget friendly.I strongly recommend this place"

"in fact noting.ıf I have to say some thing, in the shower, after a short time warm water turns to cold,it may be improved ,although ıt did not effect me adversly for outside temperature was above the 36 C during my stay."

"I was looking for a chill atmosphere to relax, this place is perfect! Amazing views to the river and the most helpful staff I've ever met, answered also super quick to my questions in the booking app."

"The neighbor's rooster won't let you sleep long 😂 Make sure to get a dorm bed closer to the exit if you're a light sleeper"

Mansour - 12/03/2025 18:20:21

"I really enjoyed my stay! The best part was the tropical jungle vibe, quiet, private, and right by the river, away from the busy city. It’s a 20-minute walk to the center, but they have a free ferry to the center every hour, which is great. The food was good, and the common areas were nice and relaxing. Just know that it’s not a very social hostel—it’s more for resting and enjoying nature."

"The only thing I didn’t like was the dorm beds. They were shaky and made noise when I climbed up, so I was afraid to wake others. It would be better if they fixed them."

Duman - 25/01/2025 18:16:51

"Wooden buildings surrounded by trees, with access to the river. Lots of fresh air at night. Free shuttle to the city center on a boat was great. We also got a free cruise in the Mekong and a free cruise on the smaller river, both were great. Laundry around the corner."

"No shelves or hooks or sockets by the beds, especially inconvenient when you’re on the upper bunk. 20-25 min walk through empty streets, if you return at night from the night market. Not many places to eat nearby, no common kitchen (the common area is also a restaurant, which makes good food, if a little pricey for a regular backpacker)."

"Amazing place to stay! If you’re looking for somewhere to relax and rest - this is the place! So many places to rest outside, do yoga, have a nap in the hammock!Awesome staff and restaurant too :)"

"Aucun."

"Sa Sa Lao is lovely, with almost everything made of bamboo. It has beautiful gardens and it's in a quiet neighborhood. The rooms are very nice, with bamboo strip baskets over the lights, comfortable mattresses, good personal mosquito nets for every bed, and clean bathrooms with good hot water. There is a platform above the river with several comfortable chairs, and a swimming deck on the river. They provide a free water taxi to take you closer to town center. There is good WiFi in the common/dining area, and a kitchen offering a small but tasty menu with local and Western dishes. The women's dorms have large storage spaces for each person. The owner very generously gave me an upgrade to a private room because I was a return guest staying for a month, and the private room had a nice balcony. The owner gives part of the profits to a charity supporting literacy in Laos (by buying books and supplies for school kids). This is my third visit here and I recommend it."

"The WiFi is only good in the common area, and dropped off very often in the dorm and private room. While the lighting in the rooms is very pretty, it's not bright enough to read a book or write notes. The location is 2 km from the Night Market, which is fine for an early morning walk, but very hot to walk back in the evening. Because it is open bamboo construction, you will get some bugs. Because it is open bamboo construction, you can hear every word if the people in the next room talk loudly. Not SSL's fault, but a new bar got built across the river, so evenings are not as quiet as they used to be (noise stops around 2200-2300)."

"Spacious, clean accommodation near the city center and major attractions.""

"The staff were incredibly friendly, spoke good English and helped me retrieve my card after one of the atms swallowed it up, food is decent and beds are very comfy."

"Note: This is my second (glowing) review for Mabuhay Guest House. As I was waiting for my visa process to complete at the nearby embassy, I kept extending my stay with Ms. Sara.  The price, location, and overall value are what initially caught my attention. But what makes staying at Mabuhay really great is the host! Ms. Sara is one of the nicest/most genuine people I've ever met.  During my stay, she was able to help me solve numerous travel-related issues. She definitely didn't need to help me, but that's just the type of person she is... And while I'm not particularly social when I travel, it wasn't long before I was hanging out downstairs with Ms Sara and the other guests, with a cold beverage, talking about a wide range of topics.  I really hope the best for Ms Sara's business and family.  And I genuinely appreciate the hospitality."

"This was an interesting hostel to stay at in a private room that was quiet (thanks to some soundproofing), and my room was cool with a loft bed over an area with a nice desk (I work remotely) and ample closet space. Great location just minutes from the night market and other sights. I spent most of my time here just walking around and exploring the city. Nice breakfast!"
