Guest reviews for Bella Ella
"The owner was incredible. He messaged me before arriving to let me know the accommodation was budget and what to expect. He was so helpful and catered to all of our needs. I would definitely recommend for budget travelers."
"Weak WiFi"
"We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Bella Ella. At first, we were a little nervous about the steep walk up and down to our room, but it quickly became part of the charm. Especially knowing the area was still feeling the effects of the cyclone. The room was slightly musty for the same reason, but given how soon we visited after the storm, that was true everywhere. What truly made our stay unforgettable was our host Loku. We loved his home-cooked meals, and our window into his world, and by the time we left, he genuinely felt like family. He took us to beautiful waterfalls, local eateries, and even a monastery in his little yellow tuk-tuk, making every outing feel special and personal. The accommodations themselves are modest, but the view is incredible and Loku is an extraordinary host with a beautiful soul, and his sweet sidekick dog, Fiona, only added to the magic. Thank you for everything, Loku. We will never forget you."

"Host - super helpful, friendly and accommodating. Always available and easy to communicate. Location - top notch if you would like to enjoy sunrise and sunset from the top of the mountain Environment - you will see more animals than Yala XD, it's like a mini eco park! Food - amazing breakfast, I want to attend the cooking class next time!"

"The host was incredible and kind. Restored my faith in tuk Tuk drivers and truly wants the best experience for his guests. This is his home town and the tour we did was fantastic! He didn’t take me to any high priced tourist traps! Simple and humble room, all I needed since most time was exploring Ella. What a great location to do so. A fantastic sunset spot just down the high road. Walked to Ella rock and had an adventure to get there. (So many routes to go, went by the waterfall on the way there) Highly recommend Maps Me app! Best value and magic breakfast area to bird watch!"
"The steps may be difficult for less agile guests. Don’t forget your own water, there are also some little convenience shops on the main road close by so not a big deal."
"Loki and his family were great hosts and made us feel like home. He was always willing to help and suggest places like he did with the monastery for the sunrise! Food as great as well and the cooking class by his sister was the best Corey we had in our trip in Sri Lanka"
"Is a little out the city so if you don’t want to walk or don’t have your tuktuk, is a little harder to reach"
"This is the best place you want to be to experience REAL local life style in Ella! We stayed for 3 nights, Loku and his family are wonderful! Probably the most simple and humble people we have ever met! Always available and not to mention the amazing meals they prepare at their house! The best sri lankan food we tried! 😃 We had the pleasure to participate to the cooking class they offer as service with Shashini! The best 2 hours spent in the kitchen and she even send you the recipes of what you cook with her! The house is surrounded by nature so you will have the pleasure to meet some interesting visitors (monkeys, squirrels, lots of birds...) including their 2 wonderful dogs! Don't be a classic tourist and miss the opportunity to meet this family and experience real life in Ella hills! Thank you for everything with our heart and we wish to see you again! ❤️"

"Loved the location, the wildlife, the friendly resident dog and the homestay host and hostess were just wonderful. I would recommend this lovely rustic homestay. We felt like we were in the jungle. Breakfast was great and I just cannot say enough about the host and hostess. Great stay, Thank you."
"Bed was a tad hard for me, but my husband slept well."
"We spent a perfect couple of days in this amazing place. Huge, clean and cozy room. Very high level in comparison with the Sri Lankan standard but at a cheap rate. Stunning view in a relaxed place and lovely family that can help you with everything (breakfast, transportation, etc). Absolutely not miss out the special cooking class with the lovely Sashini."

"My wife and I stayed here for two nights. The location is great, right next to Yala National Park. The huts are hand-built, made of clay, living in them is a unique experience. The host is very kind and friendly, helps in any way he can, we are very grateful to him for that and are glad that we met! 😊 The host also prepared some delicious traditional food for us. He will also help with organizing a safari, and can take you around the area himself and tell you interesting stories!"

"This was a nicely designed hotel, with spacious rooms. Conveniently located for Yala safari pickups. There was even a peacock to greet us every morning outside our balcony!"

"I can’t put into words just how beautiful and spectacular this place is. Honestly WOW! My rooms that had over 15 foot ceilings, everything made of stone, fans and air conditioning, the nature surrounding us, the Pool and the hotel grounds, the warm and amazing staff! My stay was short and I regret not staying longer. Just AMAZING and also the owner was there to answer all my questions and last minute demands. Don’t forget to tip the staff because they go over and beyond for you."

"What an unforgettable stay! The location of this camp is beautiful and perfectly located for the safari tour. You have direct access to the dune area during sun set hours. Just be aware that you will have to walk quite a bit through deep sand and there are a lot of nature sounds during the night."
"Lovely design of property, good homemade food and attentive staff. Moonlight safari was well worth it."
