Guest reviews for La Pantera Negra
"The place was great and the hosts were also. It is in an old mansion . Room was relatively large and well appointed and there were several public spaces, both inside and outside. A meticulously prepared breakfast was served on the rooftop terrace. Location is a short walk to the central square (Plaza Grande) and 1.5 city blocks from the main AdO bus station."

"Jean Pierre and Gina are wonderful hosts. We very much enjoyed talking with them. We like quality art and our room and the entire hotel was a work of art."

"I liked the very convenient strategic location. The very warm and helpful hosts, who speak three languages. As locals, they would give great personalised advice to suit your adventures. The house is not like your average gray Airbnb, but has a unique style that reflects the unique travels and tastes of the Jean-Pierre and Gina. I loved riding the bike around the city and morning conversations at breakfast with the hosts."
"Everything was great."
"Very friendly and helpful host, provided lot of information about various topics. House makes you feel you are staying in the art galley."
"Room a bit smelly of mold"
"Jean-Pierre and Gina are wonderful hosts—great conversation, very welcoming, and all around fun to be with, along with their two small, friendly dogs. Their place is a fabulous old building with high ceilings, a swirl of creative art and fabrics, interesting spaces, and a beautiful jungly garden. Our room was spacious, quiet, with a/c, our own bathroom, and comfortable bed. Also very close to the ADO (long distance) bus station, local buses, and easy walking to the main plaza and the market. If you like things to be interesting and creative and engaging, this is the place for you. If you like everything to be just so, then it might not be to your liking."
"The streets nearby are on the gritty side, although we always felt safe."
"La Pantera was clean and nicely decorated. The host was exceptional, providing helpful tips and assisting with personal needs. He went beyond the call of duty to retrieve a backpack I had left in a pub and sent it through courier to another city in Mexico. He also let me use his computer when my phone card wouldn’t work to make emergency calls and interpreted for me. Jean-Pierre is an exceptional host and I would recommend his place to anyone who enjoys a real bed and breakfast. I cannot thank him enough for his efforts to help me out of stressful situations."
"The neighbourhood is quite safe but unless you are used to Mexico it can look run down on the busy streets in the neighbourhood. However, I stayed at three locations on this street and had zero problems -and this was the best place I stayed."
"The hosts were very friendly and informative. They let us arrive early and use their living room to change and leave our luggage until check-in time. Breakfast was homemade and very tasty. The B&B is very close to the ADO bus station and within walking distance to the main attractions in the city. The room was nicely decorated in an artistic and unique way. The two lovely dogs were a treat :-)"
"There was a smell in the room, but when we opened the door to let fresh air go in, it solved the problem. The bathroom is separated from the bedroom with a curtain."
"Nice location, exceptionally friendly and helpful owners. Unique art gallery decor ."
"A place for the soap in the shower."
"Breakfast was very good and the location was excellent, close to the bus station and the main square and market. Being in the old district allowed us to have a more authentic cultural experience. Our hosts Gina & Jean-Pierre made our stay memorable. They are genuinely nice people and a pleasure to talk with, as well as helping us out with suggestions on things to do and see in this wonderful city. La Pantera Negra is a hidden gem, with a beautiful, peaceful garden to relax in at the end of a busy day."
"Nothing. Everything exceeded our expectations."
"Breakfast each morning was delicious! Enjoyed the conversation with other guests as well as Jean-Pierre, the host. Served on the outdoor terrace in a nice environment. A true "bed and breakfast" experience."
"Our mattress was a bit "tired", and sagged towards the middle. We had to keep asking for toilet paper, which was dispensed one roll at a time. It would have been helpful if an extra roll or two was maintained in the bathroom."
