Guest reviews for layali camp
"Driving ourselves to the camp and sleeping in a tent was a fun adventure. The camp is very small, with only three tents, making it very private. Breakfast and dinner are served at another camp 100 meters away, but it’s nice to walk through the dunes. The bed is large and comfortable, and the bathroom has no roof, allowing you to watch the stars while showering. The staff is very friendly and always happy to help."

"EPIC scenery. First, Dawood picks you up in town in the 4xdrive. It's a 15 min. wild ride across the sand dunes to the camp. The Tent was 'out of a movie' amazing. The drive to sunset sand dune-epic!"
"it was all too perfect."
"very well situated tents amid the dunes, well sized and beautifully furnished- giving us the feeling of coziness, comfort and traditional .ambiente The bathroom is open-air and you can stare at the stars while you brush your teeth, amazing. The food and the tea were delicious, even though the "dining room" lacked coziness and the tables and chairs were ugly. We loved the fire outside under the starry sky as well as the camel riding next morning."
"Poor organisation. We wanted to watch the sunset and were all afternoon in a hurry to arrive at the nearby town (pickup point). I sent several messages even before that telling them we want to watch the sunset and we'd soon arrive at the appointed place. All the answers were "ok, no problem". Then we had to wait for 1.5 hours until our driver arrived. He explained that Fridays there are huge crowds of local people who flood the desert and the result is a gargantuan traffic jam. He was right but then they should have arranged a meetup at 1 pm instead of 4:30. We totally missed the sunset and were at the camp when pitch dark. I had to ask for some tea (instead of having this offered on arrival). I felt everything was a bit too commercial and somewhat impersonal."
"Amazing staff that makes you feel comfortable and welcome. Special thanks to Luis who took very good care of me. My tent was super clean and comfortable. Overall this camp felt more comfortable than other desert camps I stayed in. Private shower under the stars is cool, although not so practical during winter season, as it gets quite cold at night. Good location of the camp, a bit further away from other camps and city lights. Good dinner and breakfast."
"The main tent and facilities seem to be shared with 2-3 other camps (e.g. Moon light camp), so it's hard to rate facilities for this camp specifically, but I don't have any complaints for my stay. Dune bashing was not so exciting and felt more like a swift ride through dunes, although the sunset spot and sandboarding were nice. I understand that running a camp in a desert is not easy, but 14 OMR for pick-up/drop-off services (15 min ride) seem like too much for me. Not this camp's fault but a general problem of the area: there is quite a lot of garbage scattered all over the dessert and you see it quite often when you ride through the dunes. Authorities or the local community should do something about it, or the place might turn into a dumpster"
"The location was excellent, in the middle of the desert away from most of the other camps. The host took care of us from start to finish. When we wanted to drive our SUV into the camp, but couldn’t find the way and it was getting dark, he came with his car and friends to where we were, and guided us to our tent. He also made sure we were happy at all times, talked to us and made us feel like home. The tent was excellent, with running water and electricity. Of course, it’s a simple life without luxury, but you have everything you meed and more. The food was also great. Overall a big recommendation! Thank you so much for this unique experience!"

"Our stay at Layali couldn’t have been better thanks to Loay and the whole team. They do everything they can to make you feel welcome. We stayed two nights and had the best time. You can choose from a variety of activities. After dinner there is a campfire. There is the greatest sunset right behind the tent. And once again, the team there is the best!"

"My stay at Layali camp was a 10/10 experience. I have absolutely no complaints. After I booked through booking.com, I received a confirmation email, and sent a message to the WhatsApp number that was provided. I got an immediate response. They provided all the information I needed about parking, getting picked up in a 4x4 to reach the camp, and about the activities. The camp is located high up in the sand dunes. The tent is very beautiful on the inside, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was so delicious in a beautiful dining area where I ate with other guests. The dinner was also very delicious. This was one of the best experiences ever and I will also choose this camp! The customer service was exceptional."
