"A unique hotel in a historic village. Our room was in a building separated from the main building. Our room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable, but the Wi-Fi was extremely limited and the water for our shower was never more than tepid. We chose to pay for the on-site dinner, and we are happy we did. Delicious! Breakfast was fine, nothing superb."

The room had everything we needed, including a comfortable bed, modern amenities, and a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. It was clear that care had been taken to create a pleasant space for guests, blending comfort with the rustic charm of the village. If you're looking for a quiet and restful stop in one of Portugal’s most picturesque and historically rich towns, this is a great choice. We’d happily stay here again. "Honestly can't think of anything we didn't like other than there were no restaurants open in the village during our stay. But that is not the fault of our accommodation which were excellent. In hind sight Casa da Cisterna did offer us the option of dinner which we should have taken them up on."

The visit to the rock drawings and Ana’s explanation was worth coming out to Castelo Rodrigo alone. It was really a special experience. Thank you Ana and team for your hospitality. 100% recommend!"

"Everything. Anna and her staff looked after us like friends. They looked after my husband who is a celiac. He even gave the chef a kiss which she loved. Lovely outlook. Great room. Lovely dining and lounge area. We wished we could have stayed longer. Anna also gave us lots of tourist information. Thanks again for a great stay"

"We were on the Fishermen's trail and only stayed one night and did not really use all the amenities. It's a lovely place and I can highly recommend it. Lovely staff. They also gave us a room upgrade with an amazing view."

"Cosy room.in a traditional old farm building. The table by the swimming pool had a fabulous vista down the valley to Vizela and beyond; perfect for watching the sunset directly ahead whilst bats fly around and sipping the delicious wine made by the family. We regret not bringing some home! The owner went the extra mile for us, for example taking our laundry and ironing even in the middle of a heatwave"

"We did the Camino and it was right on the Camino trail. Payment is via cash only. The rooms are small but adequate for just one night. Nice place as it has its own vineyard. The caretaker is also very friendly. They provide a pilgrim dinner for 16 euro but we did not do that as we do not eat a heavy dinner. It did look good though."
