"The staff here are very friendly and hospitable, including the cleaning woman. Love them so much."

"The noise in the morning is a bit annoying because of the consturction work outside. But the staff attempted to talk with the workers and solved the problem in time"

"We stayed in the Frescos room. The room is the best that could possibly exist. I have never stayed in a more beautiful room. Amazing decoration. A huge room, like a large studio. The bathroom is top, one of the best I’ve ever seen. It had a hairdryer and shampoo upon request. Every detail—the murals, the windows, both in the room and throughout the house—was incredible. It feels like a house with rooms and a shared kitchen. Each room has its own shelf in the fridge and in the kitchen cupboards, labeled with names. The utensils are shared by everyone. Communication was fast and good. Great location—next to Time Out Market. There were two-three mini-markets downstairs, lots of bars and restaurants , and it’s on a lovely square. From what I understood, only the Frescos room has a bathroom inside the room (though I might be wrong), while the other rooms either had shared bathrooms or private ones outside the room."

"Unfortunately, I absolutely cannot give 5 stars, and our whole experience was ruined, especially on the last night. The soundproofing is unacceptable, even though I was wearing earplugs. The adjacent room (Blue Room) is separated only by an internal door, probably because in the past the spaces were connected. ( the door is near the bed - see the photo)So when the neighbors arrived, you could hear everything—even when they drank water. It’s unbelievable how much you can hear. Another thing that ruined our stay was the upstairs floor. Even the slightest step could be heard, and at midnight on the last night, someone (probably a child) was running back and forth for an hour. The situation was tragic. And again, I was wearing earplugs. The buildings are old, but they have aluminum windows, so you don’t hear anything from outside. But the interior noise ruined the 5 stars they would have definitely gotten. At least the noise issue with the adjacent room needs to be taken seriously! Finally, during the 4 nights we stayed, they didn’t change the sheets, towels, or even empty the bathroom bin, which is really borderline! At least once, this should be a standard rule. And I have to say, it’s not a cheap accommodation for the specific room we booked FRESCOS. It’s worth every last euro, but the lack of cleanliness and the noise are simply unjustifiable in the year 2025."

"It was charming, clean and had an excellent location."

"It felt comfortable and had I needed during my stay."

"The space was charming and unique. Our room was spacious and the location was close to everything."

"No AC. Bathroom was across the hall but it was private."

"The hostel exceeded our expectations. The location is perfect from the center and to the sea. The rooms are on the 3rd floor and facing the street so we were worried that there would be traffic noises but to our surprise the windows were very thick which blocked the noises and we were able to sleep during the night. We did not use the kitchen a lot but there was enough material for people who cook. There is an elevator to go to the 3rd floor."

"There was just one bathroom and toilet which made it difficult sometimes. There wasn't much hanging space in the rooms. The beds were not that comfortable."

"Adorable will cared for host and an old building with tons of charm!"

"The coffee situation in the morning was unclear. I would’ve appreciated knowing that I could use the coffee maker and the coffee provided to make my own cups of coffee prior to arriving."

"Very clean and quiet place in a bustling part of town. We were in the Platform room, which had a beautiful custom wood platform built. Our bathroom was private but across the hall, so make sure you read the exterior bathroom description clearly. The shared areas were very clean (the kitchen was especially beautiful) and had very cool and unique furnishing. We had our 7 year old and there were books and a few toys he could play with. We also hardly saw any other guests there, so mostly had the common areas to ourselves."

"Our room didn’t have AC, and it was a bit warm for my husband (in the high 80s during the day), so be aware of that if you’re traveling in the summer"

"Large room to accomodate me and my daughter. Great staff. Amazing location!"

"Nightlife can be disruptive overnight (bring ear plugs!)"

Olivia - 22/05/2025 22:27:37

"The location was PERFECT! In walking distance to everything I wanted to do and see."

"It was quite noisy from the other guests next door or below in the courtyard (a kid screaming), but this was only an issue in the morning and forced me to get up lol"

"One small flight of stairs, a lift then a small flight down. Stay in the fresco room it’s huge! Sara is charming, sent us a Google Map of the area. I didn’t see another employee until check out day 3 days after but could contact them if needed. Comfortable double bed, two single beds, beautiful view of the clock tower on the church across from Time Out Market. Nicer and more private than many hotels at a very reasonable cost."

"Like most older buildings noise can be heard from other rooms. We had mild weather and didn’t need heat or air conditioning so can’t attest to that. The Fresco room is amazing and private."

"Great location for being close to hiking trail, had heat and great shower with amazing water pressure comfy beds"

Christiane Sol Dourado

"Very nice place. Very quiet, in the middle of horses. It was so nice to sit on the veranda and soak in the atmosphere. The veranda is also very nicely sheltered from the wind."

"Cosy room.in a traditional old farm building. The table by the swimming pool had a fabulous vista down the valley to Vizela and beyond; perfect for watching the sunset directly ahead whilst bats fly around and sipping the delicious wine made by the family. We regret not bringing some home! The owner went the extra mile for us, for example taking our laundry and ironing even in the middle of a heatwave"

"We did the Camino and it was right on the Camino trail. Payment is via cash only. The rooms are small but adequate for just one night. Nice place as it has its own vineyard. The caretaker is also very friendly. They provide a pilgrim dinner for 16 euro but we did not do that as we do not eat a heavy dinner. It did look good though."

"This place is so charming and having a kitchen and fireplace made it very nice."

"The hosts were great. A family-run guest house, good value for money and a great way to experience the local culture. The nearby restaurant they recommended was a real gem."

"The proprietor was wonderful. The common outside areas were very beautiful. The common inside area was a museum—-super interesting. The restaurant was very, very good! Fantastic! The rooms are just OK—clean and comfortable but little charm. Would definitely stay here again. Happily accomodated our bicycles in a secure room. Overall—super, just super!"

"Estava tudo óptimo. A estrela é mesmo a piscina da casa! Mimimhos deixados pelo anfitrião! Tudo impecável! Super Recomendo!"

"Nicely organized house, also very quiet environment. Good and easy parking."
