Family-run Oporto House is in a historic neighborhood in central Porto, a 5 minute walk from Clérigos Tower and Palacio da Bolsa. Its dwelling units have natural stone walls and antique, wood furniture. Decorated in bright colors, each room has a fan and private bathroom. Some quarters have a balcony, city panoramas or sloped ceilings. A continental morning meal is available and there is a snack bar. Lots of lunch sleeping areas and bars can be found within a 10 minute walk. The personnel at the 24-hour front desk can provide tourist information and arrange massages, and car and bike rental. City Market Bolhao is less than half a mile from the property, while the Palacio de Cristal gardens are 15 minutes’ away on a route passing the University of Porto. Found within a 5 minute walk are Aliados Metro Station and São Bento Train Station, make availableing direct access to the rest of the city. Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport is a 20 minute drive from OportoHouse.

"All was good except for the night club, “Club Lust” across the narrow street. We were there both Friday and Saturday nights and the noise from the music and rowdy crowd was very unpleasant, and lasting till 3 am. Very unfortunate for this otherwise lovely small hotel."

"The owner went above and beyond to make sure my needs were met. The rooms upstairs are beautiful, with some stone walls and excellent views. I loved sitting on the balcony and looking over the vista. The air-conditioning kept me cool. The breakfast was worth the money: it was prepared beautifully and included a variety of options. I ordered it initially just for the first morning but decided to have it every day."
"I did not realize that I had initially reserved a basement room with no air-conditioning, so I was very grateful that the owner was able to work with me when I explained that the heat was oppressive. I would recommend that those booking make sure they know what level their room is on, and what form of cooling is available. In July, an electric fan isn't really enough, especially if you are out walking during the heat of the day."

"The nightlife on the street was extreme over the weekend. Didn’t stop till dawn, sounds of loud techno and many merrymakers. Nice to hear people having fun but quite hard to sleep by."
"I loved Oporto House, it is conveniently located near many sights. The staff that greeted me spoke very little English, but we worked things out. She was very nice and let me put my bags in the room before it was ready so I could walk around town. It is a lively area so make sure you pack your noise cancelling headphones or enjoy the music."
