Guest reviews for Quinta Do Martelo

"The breakfast lady was a jewel. She matched the authenticity of the place. She truly made our stay more enjoyable! Location during the celebration was good."

"The facility was very old from the 1800’s. Updated several living parts. If advertised for the experience it provided, we could have been better prepared for we saw upon arrival. Shocked! The insects, the creepy creatures within."

"Grate experience at a farm house. Gilberto is so friendly and helpful, really recommended."

"Aucun."

"The houses are set-up like in the olden days and you feel like you are stepping back in time. Definitely a unique experience! There is a bathroom with running water and a kitchen downstairs from the bedroom that are more modern, so you aren't completely roughing it. But in the main sleeping room, the ambience feels very rustic. It feels like you are living in a different era, although there is electricity (though most outlets are downstairs) and an air conditioner (though it isn't very powerful and can't fully keep up with the heat). The breakfast is also amazing and has a full range of local cheeses, breads, meats, and jams with lots of good, strong coffee. :-) It's a memorable experience and worth spending a night!"

"I don't think I would recommend dinner at the restaurant, or at least I would recommend skipping the alcatra, which is their specialty dish. It's essentially a lot of stewed meat (no veggies), with bread. It was around 30 euro (2 people) for a massive vat of meat, but it's impossible to eat all of it. If you can find someplace that serves this in smaller portions for a cheaper price, I would recommend that. (Or just skipping it all together. Every island in the Azores seems to have their own version of a stewed meat dish, and they all taste very similar.) We enjoyed the appetizers at the restaurant, and they had some soup options which we didn't try. If you do eat at the restaurant, I would recommend ordering these lighter options unless you really enjoy stewed meat."

"The facilities were authentic Portugese. They were rustic. Not the most comfortable. The bed was great."

"No cushioned chairs or couches"

"Gilberto and staff are the nicest people. The place is has historical museum aspect, but it’s also just fun tranquil Quinta. It invites you to be outside, take a walk and escape. Also the dinner felt like home, so good!"

"You need a car to get to town which is fine if you want a little escape. I would recommend getting a car anyway bc all the good stuff are spread out all over the island"

"Authentic farm property with old houses & memorabilia. Good wifi. Good size room & bathroom. Room with basic amenities."

"Basic bkfst, lacked variety & fresh fruits. It could be improved. Facility lacks seats or benches to sit outside. Pool wasn’t clean. A little overpriced for what it offers. No grocery or restaurants around within walking distance except hotel restaurant"

"It was an interesting and great experience. It helped us understand and learn about farm life in the Azores. Gilberto, the owner is very passionate about his concept and we enjoyed being there. The food was excellent and very filling."

"Aucun."

"The hosts were great. A family-run guest house, good value for money and a great way to experience the local culture. The nearby restaurant they recommended was a real gem."

"Do espaço maravilhosamente decorado. Da limpeza do espaço e da simpatia da Mimi e do Domingos."

"It is located on the main street, and close to amenities. The apartment is spectacular with a loft living room, kitchen and terrace with a great view of the ocean. Daniela was welcoming and helpful - such a treat!"

"Perfect place to explore Porto. Abel is a very sociable and polite host who is ready to help in any situation. Convenient location of the apartment (ocean view, there are many restaurants, cafe and shops nearby). Despite the multi-level version of the apartment, it was comfortable for us (we were with children aged 11 and 6). The kids really liked it too. I definitely recommend."

"The house is very beautiful, plenty of charms! Plus it is greatly located just 30 min from ski station in Serra da Estrela."

"Good location with short walk to the train station, and staff is very friendly"

"Space, cleanliness, beds and bedrooms, well equipped, outdoor space"

"Wonderful location. close to shops and beach. decently equipped kitchen, washer. clothes line, bidet. working ac, bathroom smelled clean. beds were decent, pillows were good. no real problems with the place. would stay here again"

"The hotel is situated in a small village. It was a national holiday, but there was a restaurant inside the hotel where you can have lunch and dinner. Prices were rather low, simple food. Though it is better to double-check the prices. Continental breakfast was included in the price, with toasts, ham, fruits, etc. Overall, it was nice. There is a beautiful river view 10 minutes away by car, and a small waterfall - 30 minutes by car. It was warm in the room."
