"The decor is wildly original, and we appreciated the opportunity to meet with the 82-year-old developer/owner of the property (and much of its art work), Sir Tommy Chan. The hotel is outside the center of town but it's just a short ride in a taxi, which we found easy to catch. We also appreciated the staff helping us to organize activities during two of our days in town. Although the hotel is somewhat faded, our room was impeccably clean."

"Island Home is a wonderful accommodation. The rooms were great, the service is excellent, and the price is the best in town. Jr and Jannette are amazing hosts! They also offer nice excursions (snorkeling, hiking, etc.) for a very fair price. If you have something specific you would like to do in Honiara they will help you in any way they can. The value you get far exceeds the price. The property is beautiful and much more quiet than the places in the main town. If you like talking with people there are usually other guests from all over the world. This is the only place I will stay at while I am in Honiara!"

"Very friendly and effective staff. Made me feel very much at home. The location has wonderful views, however, it is a little distance from the CBD which is problem if you're traveling for work. For a holiday a more flexible work schedule - this would not apply. The apartment itself, including Wi fi and all the facilities were excellent and well maintained."

Sufficient lighting options in all the right spots in my room. The food from the very limited menu was delicious. "Lily was very friendly and helpful (as well as her staff - Thomas, Danny, little Lily, Wesley, Clay and Peggy) in connecting us with the lovely local villages of Ghatere and Kuzi on Kolombungarra as well as taking us to the various townships of Gizo, Ringgi and Noro and cooking us beautiful fish straight out of the sea, for dinner. The colours of the sea are spectacular and we saw dolphins on several of our trips. We were researching family history in relation to the loss of the Esperanza in 1880"

"The place was very very clean. 3 rooms in this big house up on a hill. Comfortable room with ceiling fan (a/c is an extra charge). Shared toilet/shower again very clean. Large kitchen with everything and spacious dining room common area. Nice small back veranda overlooking a valley of homes. Secure. A short 2 min walk away is a local shack like shop selling basic needs (not a market). The owner and staff are very nice. Great value given the few options in Gizo, I highly recommend!"
