"Owner Zafar is most helpful kind informative so fluent in English even lent me his hat after I told him I lost mine! He told me he's fourth generation in that land and works for French ngo! Place has lovely courtyard and lots of toilets and showers. Supermarket 200m away"

"The only issue I had was that the AC unit is in one of the dorm beds. One guy from France decided to make the rest of the people in the room suffer with 30 degree heat because he didn’t want the AC running in his bed. I can understand his issue but the real trouble is that the hostel should not be putting people in a bed with the AC inside the bunk. I sent a message to the owner at night asking if there’s another room I could move to since I paid for AC and he didn’t respond. Other than that, it was all fine."

"It’s a family home converted into a hostel with a nice relaxing yard and friendly, hospitable, helpful owner who explained everything to me about the town though i was the only guest when arrived. I felt I stayed in my grandparents home. Very homey and i can imagine the hostel vibe when more travelers gather in this place."

"It was a pleasant stay at Salom Hostel. I stayed total of 3 nights (2nights when i arrived in panjakent and 1 night before i went to Artuch). The owners were very helpful when it comes to giving directions going to different places. I also left my laptop before hiking Artuch which I really appreciate (they didnt ask me to pay for the locker). It would have been a little heavier if i carried it with me. They also have a kitchen where you can cook your own meals if you want to. The price is okay considering there are not many hostels in Panjakent. I like the location as well. It is walking distance to the market."
"The only thing was the wifi. It wasnt super fast in the morning til evening. I work between 2AM-6AM and the wifi was better between those hours. In Tajikistan, wifi in general is slow. That is a downside if you do remote job but if you dont then it wont really affect you. You can buy local sim and the signal will be just fine."
"Really great place to meet backpackers and organize hikes in the area. The staff is really nice and helpful. They have beds with curtains The courtyard is cool."

"The propert us good. Everything is functional. They have kitchen and chiller should you wish to store your food and cook your meal. They have gazeebo, one thing that I never had in most of the hotels I check in. Gazeebo is a perfect place to chill and have a chitchat with other guests."

"The hotel is pretty old and looks like it, but the room was big and clean. Water pressure was good. The location, even if at the city limits, was good, as we found the only good coffee in town at the gas station closeby. We had a nice balcony. The breakfast was pretty big, could not eat everything."

"Definitely one of the best stays of my travels. The weather wasn’t good during my days in Panjakent; however, the people at the hotel truly melted my heart. They helped me find a reasonably priced car to the Seven Lakes and also assisted in getting a car back to the border. Such simple kindness, yet such a big help — it genuinely warmed my heart. Thank you, Ibrahim. I hope to come again next time, maybe in summer, to see the beautiful mountains and lakes."

"As Panjakent is primarily a jumping off point to explore further into Tajikistan, what you need is a place that will let you gather your bearings and decide how you want to go forward with your trip. Having a hotel owner like Hotel SUGD is extremely helpful. He gave us options for what to do in Panjekent for the afternoon of our arrival, pointed out the two restaurants in town that would be best for us, organized an inexpensive day trip to the Seven Lakes, and let us leave our bags there until we checked out later in the day. A very honest person with good communication. The room was large, with great hot water. We had a room with a large window overlooking a market and street below. Location is right in the middle of the city. Breakfast was good."
