"The space was lovely (first floor room with street view), the street pretty quiet. Room was clean and comfortable, nice bathroom. The location was excellent - we were able to walk to many, many places conveniently. Train stops are close by as well as pubs and shops. Highly recommend!"

As we were on the ground floor, next to the stairs, we did hear a bit of noise from upstairs neighbors and their coming and going, as well as folks walking the sidewalk outside, but truly not a deal-breaker.

"Excellent hotel inside Aiprot just above arrival and departure area so you dont have to worry about cab getting stuck in traffic while reaching airport (especially Jakarta traffic). And also extremely safe being inside airport plus a ton of food choices and also lots of convienience stores around, So everything you need plus the added tension free location to catch a flight."

What’s not to like!?

"Mercure is just a short drive away from the airport and we went with a transfer booked through Booking.com to making going to and from the airport streamlined. Check-in was quick and easy the staff were friendly and food was reasonably priced at the restaurant. The room was clean and the pool was great for the hot and humid weather. It was also close to supermarkets, movies and other restaurants which served a variety of food."

The bathroom felt a bit outdated.

"The location was great, within walking distance of everything in Colonia. The breakfast was outstanding, and the manager, Yang Gang, was just amazing. He was on his own for most of our stay, and he did everything himself: the cooking, servicing the rooms, and driving us around."

The hotel was built about 30 years ago and was a beautiful structure with extensive facilities, but wooden structures don't hold up well in the climate of Yap. It's really showing its age, and could use some renovation.

"The buffet was amazing for both breakfast and dinner, the bed was huge and we slept like babies. We arrived at the hotel at 6AM and they were kind enough to check us in around 10AM free of charge."

We stayed in Doha during Ramadan and the hotel’s policy was not to serve drinks or eat outdoors until sunset. The staff was extremely polite about that, but for us, as tourists it was a bit unpleasant not to be able to enjoy breakfast on the terrace, in the warm sun.

"Excellent location, right in the middle of everything! Beautiful room with tasteful decor and very comfortable bed, and the balcony was lovely - roomy enough to sit on and the castle view was beautiful. Definitely recommend the upgrade. Good shower with large, fluffy towels - not something you see in many hotels. I appreciated the vegan options at breakfast - in addition to the usual stuff, there were hot dishes like soy patties, rosti, sauteed vegetables, and beans. Everything is clearly marked with allergens so it's easy to see what's vegan."

I would have liked to see some vegan options on the hotel restaurant menu and/or room service. There were a couple of nights when I didn't feel like going out but there was really nothing, so I ended up ordering on Wolt.

"The hotel has a great location in a quiet area, yet close to the city center. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, with good sound insulation. The staff was very friendly, professional, and always ready to help. Breakfast was rich and tasty, with a good variety of options. "Excellent cozy family friendly resort. Staff were welcoming, friendly, helpful and attentive. Salt water and mineral water pools were refreshing. Excellent location, close to Mambo Beach, a beautiful, clean sand beach, with free access to Madeiro Beach Club. Close to restaurants and shops of Mambo Beach Blvd. Comfortable rooms. A nice touch to have pool toys and floats for kids and sand toys to borrow for the beach as well as drying rack in room for wet swim suits. On-site Reef Restaurant had delicious breakfasts. It was great to have a complimentary shuttle to grocery store. Only suggestions are to have daily housekeeping and full sized pillows for beds and face/wash cloths in hotel suites."

What’s not to like!?

"The location was great for biking. The bike path runs across the street from the hotel. The grounds were lovely with the reserve in the back. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a lot choices. Perfect for fueling up for bike rides. Being able to rent a car on property was very convenient for exploring further out on the island."

No other restaurants within walking distance.

"Everything was excellent. The staff’s behavior was very good, especially Mr. Mohammad at the reception, and Mr. Mazan and Chef Omar in the restaurant. They were very kind and attentive, constantly checking to make sure everything was fine and quickly providing anything we needed."

However, the hotel refrigerator was empty and there was no minibar. Also, whenever we ordered something, we had to pay immediately, as it could not be charged to the room.

"The location is excellent, just a short walk to Skansin and Tinganes, making it a perfect base for exploring Tórshavn. The hotel was clean and well-maintained, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room only had a view of the rock wall in the backyard, so there wasn’t much natural light, but we didn’t mind. If you’re looking for better views, it’s worth booking an upgraded room."

Breakfast was good: not exceptional, but it had everything we needed to start the day. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!
