Laugarfell is the perfect base for visiting Snæfell, Kverkfjöll and Askja. The area is popular for hiking such as the well visited Waterfall Circle hike that start and ends at Laugarfell. Our simply furnished twin lodgings supply a cozy summits hut atmosphere, with perspectives toward Snæfell from selected lodgings. Shared bathaccommodations and guest facilities create a friendly and authentic highland experience. The on-site brasserie serves breakfast formula, dinner, coffee, homemade cakes and snacks. A shared living room with fireplace provides a warm and ergonomic place to relax after hiking or long driving. Laugarfell is situates 47 mi from Egilsstaðir, 25 mi from Hengifoss and 15 mi from Snæfellskáli.

"Wow! What a gem of a stay! Lovely rooms at a value price. Food and alcohol sold. Plenty toilets and showers. An amazing waterfall next door, which you pass driving in and out of the property. And a 45ºC hot pool. Yes, there is a hot spring pool included that overlooks everthing!!!"

"Meals were pricey (especially for a large family), but delicious!!! After completing the spectacular Waterfall Circle hike, we loved having a warm meal already prepared and waiting. And, of course, the amazing hot pools under the mountains with glaciers and waterfall views all around. This place is a gem and I’m glad more people don’t know about it because it did not feel like all the other tourist things around the country. What better way to experience the “Highlands”. The waterfall hike is probably the best hike in the country. So glad we pulled it off."
"Maybe a little more info about the hikes would have been helpful (my own fault as I could have asked). I read beforehand how the hike was an “easy to moderate hike”, but that really only applies to healthy young people, not people above 60, people who have bad knees, people who would struggle to walk up ten flights of stairs, etc. My mother-in-law took an hour longer than the rest of us and it was a miracle she didn’t turn into a medical tragedy!"

"It is a location in the Highlands that is accessible. Mostly paved roads and close to a regional center. The drive is beautiful. The hikes around the lodge are accessible and varied for different skill levels. The hot pools are glorious."
