Tall toilets

"We loved our stay at the Black Pearl. The hosts were welcoming and accommodating; they checked in with us during our stay and offered recommendations. The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was provided for our first morning, which was a lovely touch."

"Very convenient location close to the airport. The hosts are genuinely lovely, super responsive, and always do their best to help with anything you need. The AC works well which is a thing in Solomon Islands. There is a laundry service available, and overall the place feels comfortable and easy."

It’s quite far from town, so not ideal if you want to go out or explore often. But if you prefer to stay near the airport, it’s a great choice.

Nothing to don't like

"We absolutely loved staying at Bolholt apartments, so much so that we were sad to leave. The location was a little out of the centre but the public transport made it extremely easy and fast to get wherever we wanted to go that it wasn't a problem. We would definitely recommend it and stay there again."

We had some noisy neighbours in one of the apartments adjacent to ours but that is totally out of the control of the management. People should learn to be a bit more considerate at 3am in the morning that's all.

"Eco-friendly location, very clean, slept peacefully and comfortably, owner is very nice and helpful. Definitely relaxed here with my mom which was our goal. Also it's a relatively short walk down to main street, my mom is elderly and we even walked down to the public beach with no problems. Even though she doesn't allow pesticides, we didn't see one roach, fly or mosquito during our stay."

Make sure you talk to the owner about the size and amenities of tour cabin. I honestly can't complain, our stay was well fitted to our needs.

"The facilities are secure and exceptionally clean with a private entrance to own accommodation. Parking is available and there is a lovely garden to relax in. Lolo and Simba communicated very well from when we booked till we settled in and checked if we were comfortable with our stay. Thumbs up to Shepherd the facilitator, he is quite a hospitable gentleman."

The limited spoken English at reception.

"It was like having your own home for a week, which was good. A microwave oven was not supplied, but this may have been because it needed replacing. The owner responded to our request for assistance very promptly, on the one occasion we reported a problem."

"The guest house is exceptionally well-managed, and the host is incredibly friendly and helpful. We wish we had the chance to extend our stay and explore more of the area. Conveniently located near a JR station, the house is just a 10-minute walk away. Even though we arrived quite late, the host greeted us at the station and kindly offered to transport our luggage to their house. The house is spacious, modernly furnished, and tastefully decorated."

The downstairs bedroom bathroom faucet was a bit too short for that clear sink. And the bedroom didn't have a TV 😭

There were stairs to our room. We had to carry a heavy piece of luggage up to the room - would not recommend. The floors are made of wood planks that are not sealed. There is definitely opportunity for critters to enter throught the floor boards. Nothing happened for us, but there is this potential.

Lack of keys 🔑

"The breakfast, if there was one, was not offered in a clearly identifiable place. That didn't present a particular problem for me, as a nice cafe was open, right down the street."

I had no secure way to drop off the key at check-out, as the code to the box did not work, when I tried it this morning. It worked fine, at check-in. I left the key in the room, which I'd rather not have done.
