"The staff was very nice and it was just a short walk to the Christmas Market."
"No elevator, so if stairs aren't your thing, don't go."
"The location was fantastic. Close to everything. Rooms were big and very Comfortable beds. Bar/restaurant was beautiful and breakfast was very tasty. Staff could not have been more helpful."

"Breakfast was great, highly recommend! The bedroom was ok, next time I would request a room NOT on the ground floor. Vibey, cute space!"
"The sheets were very scratchy. The lamps in the room didn't work so it was very dim in the evening. Ground floor room not preferred, the alley way was very loud in the mornings."
"Room was small but very nicely furnished. Staff were wonderful and so helpful. Great location."
"Price was a bit high but that’s probably reflective of prices in the area."
"The room was clean and well decorated. The mattress was exceptionally comfortable and a good amount of sturdy pillows which is rare ar so many places. In room amenities of robe, towels, Nespresso machine, tea and coffee, water, mini fridge, and plenty of outlets."
"No elevator, noisy room facing alleyway noise all night long"
"We received a warm welcome from staff upon check in. The room was lovely and comfortable with great amenities! Absolutely loved the breakfast and it was great to have one of the best bars in the area just below us—however the sound didn’t carry up to the rooms at all. The ambiance was delightful."

"Location was great for us. The room was a good size. It was very clean. The space was charming as it’s above a restaurant and bar. The breakfast was delicious!"
"It was rather hot this week in Edinburgh (80+ degrees Fahrenheit) and the room did not have air conditioning. There was a nice Dyson fan that helped but it was still pretty toasty. The room was also on an alley so we couldn’t leave the window open really as people were constantly passing by and heading to the pubs. I could imagine that it can get quite loud out there but fortunately we weren’t kept awake. :)"
"The team was so helpful, accessible and cheerful. Huge towels!"
"Stairs but unavoidable."
"Beautiful hotel, staff helpful and friendly. Facilities available are first class. Breakfast was delicious!"
"Slightly out the way for my elderly mum as we were arriving by train into Waverly station. No lift but we were on the first floor so not too bad."

"Staying in a 500 year old inn that was the home of a famous revolutionary was a fascinating experience. It was by far the oldest room I've ever slept in and I wondered at length as to who had been born, and died in that space. It is next door to Yorkminster, the ancient cathedral of York and a great location all around. The food for both breakfast and dinner was delicious and staff were friendly and efficient. Be prepared for uneven floors and doorways that aren't square, but if to want that, stay in a newer hotel. We loved every minute. Great bar too!"
Crabtree Guy Fawkes Inn
