"It is like coming home, after long time, you feel there. Location is the best in town, in a very heart of the city, but also quiet, not by the busy street. The room is very nice and cozy, all facilieties are very good. There is nice caffe downstairs, must visit! All guesthouse and the details is made with heart. Hosts are warm hearted, intelligent and have knowledge about the surroundings. I spent wonderfull time, and will come back for sure!"

In Dili, it is easy to get around via mikrolet buses or taxis. There were shops and restaurants within easy walking distance."

There wasn't anything I didn't like. It wasn't advertised as a "luxury" hotel and the quality was fine. You can get a data SIM card outside the airport when you arrive. If you need wifi you can buy a mini modem and put the SIM card in the modem instead of your phone.

This is staff-less hotel which raises some minor concerns around safety and customer service. We were lucky not to have any issues, but it felt strange not to have some one available for questions.

"Great location, close enough to walk into centre of town to explore, lovely hosts and they made a lovely breakfast each morning. Everywhere was kept warm and toasty, great big shared bathroom downstairs and an extra kettle to make hot drinks! Would definitely stay again when visiting!"

My room was a small single on the ground floor and I could hear the road noise outside, but that was my choice because I prefer to have the window open for fresh air even in winter!

"This is a family recreational resort with some dorms. Mine was inside the main building near the inside pool and table tennis area. The showers and two toilets are those used by the pool guests. I was fortunate to have only one female dorm mate. There are lockers outside in the hallway and you are given a room key. The manager kindly lent me sheets. I liked the location in the woods not far from the pedestrian street."

The kitchen could use some new utensils. There were no cups or glasses, just some plastic cups.

"The guesthouse is part of a family home turned into guest rooms (separate entrance from a courtyard). I believe that the owners also own the guesthouse next door. Excellent and variegated home-cooked breakfast (with vegetarian options) is served in the courtyard. Filtered water for bottle refill is placed in the courtyard. The kind owners, Mr. Timur and his wife treat guests as family and take care of all their needs. The guesthouse is a few minutes walk from the Registan (this also means that you hear pretty much everything when there is a light show or outdoor concert)."

A better curtain on the door and window facing the courtyard would be welcome. Wifi was on and off but was sufficient for our needs.

"This is a very affordable hotel. Convenient location. We were visiting friends and they recommended it. The staff was great and super responsive. The common area has a great vibe. Lots of young people. We are older so that was not so important to us. I would stay again!"

We thought the mattress and pillows were hard but we managed ( we are an older couple). When I gave the owner feedback she said we should’ve said something and she would’ve changed them out which is super. We don’t like to complain but it’s nice to know they want to take care of you.

"This place was filled with vintage charm. It created a nostalgic vibe that for me elevated my vacation. It clearly had once been grandiose, and although it's greatness had faded, it was still stately. I loved the terraces, huge pool, and had a nearby beach to myself. It felt like a movie set from the 60s! It would be the perfect setting for a film. If you enjoy kitsch and want to be out of the fray, book this place. It is a short distance to a fabulous restaurant, Little, and a small grocery store/deli/bakery. Warick Parish is a short bus ride to Hamilton. The owner, Brenda, was raised here and is a font of knowledge about this hotel's history."

The cleanliness and the condition of furniture need an upgrade! The cabinet needs to be ripped out and replaced, stove and items need a deep clean and shower needs a proper shower head sorta spittled as opposed to showered.

"Lovely jamaican couple running a little Guest House just 5 min away from the beach. The highlight of the stay was the pool and the served food for dinner. I highly recommend eating at the Guest House! The rooms were spacious and nicely temperature thanks to the well working AC. If you looking for a nice and peaceful place to stay close to kokrobite, don't miss out on that one!"

"I stopped for a night while traveling to Madinah. From the outside look, I didn't expect the interior to be this beautiful. It was a wonderful experience. Parking is available on the roadside, in front of it. Didn't meet the owner or any staff. However, the chat with the owner was warm and pleasant. The location is really calm and beautiful. Before leaving in the morning, we enjoyed a lovely stroll in the park outside."

The toilet seat was broken. However, the owner apologized and told me he would fix it the next day.

"Julian was a magnificent host. He helped me arrange an excellent taxi driver who got me to the airport safely and quickly for less money than I was expecting. I got mugged (at 11 am) in Georgetown, so be mindful that it isn't the safest place. Don't travel with lots of valuables on you. I was able to fight off my attackers, so I kept the money and phone I was carrying. Anyway, Julian was a great place to stay."

"The staff of the hotel was very welcoming and helpful. They checked in on us to make sure that everything was satisfactory with the room. They brought us more supplies and left them on the door while we were out. They even called a cab for us when it was time to leave. It was about a 10-minute walk into downtown Charlestown. We had breakfast at Cafe Des arts on the ground to the Alexander Hamilton museum every morning. Getting to Pinney Beach took a little longer than we expected. The first time we walked there. The walk was long a pretty busy road and as typical in this part of the world, there were no sidewalks. The next time that we went to the beach, we hired a taxi for about $12 US. There are lots of good restaurants and bars on Pinney Beach to enjoy."

This review is written with a full understanding of what life and accommodations look like in the islands. There are some things like only warm and not hot water or low water pressure that would be unacceptable if I were staying at a property in the US or Europe. Just understand when you choose accommodations in the islands water and electricity are often out of the venues hands.

"Perfect location - meters from the beach and a bit away from the centre of beachfront which made it slightly quieter during the huge crowds that descend on the beach for New Year. Restaurant on beach is amazing - excellent meals. Once at hotel you can walk everywhere with ease."

We booked a room for 3, but don't think it was of the same quality as the other rooms at the hotel. Our room was right next to the bar / reception and while it was communicated as having a 'sea view' - what wasn't mentioned is that it overlooks the restaurant first, with the sea behind it. Because of where the room was situated, it was also very dark (a long thin room) with little natural ventilation, so a bit stuffy. The bathroom was tiny for 3 people. But we made the best of it and the benefit was best access to wifi (based at restaurant) and also quickest access to beach. We would definitely choose this hotel above all others when visiting Tofo again - BUT would make sure we get a better room. It wasn't a room you really wanted to spend time in.
