Bed and Breakfasts in the United Arab Emirates

"We stayed here in September after walking the Arctic circle trail. We were faster than expected, so we contacted the owner as soon as we arrived in town. He immediatly told us we could stay at the house and came to pick us up in 10min to bring us there. It is a bedroom in his home and he immediately made us feel very welcome. We had space in the fridge, the entire kitchen available and we were allowed to use the washing machine to clean all our stuff. The WiFi was also excellent. The host was very friendly and taught us lots about Greenland, Inuit culture and history and the surrounding area. He also offered to take us on a boat trip to the ghost village (at a much better rate than any other provider). All in all a great place to stay!"

As we were staying in someone's home and not a hotel, the place wasnt absolutely spotless, but it was clean and homey. It might not be to everybody's taste to share a bathroom with a family though.

"Beautiful setting with farm animals, nicely decorated places to sit and relax outside, great breakfast and helpful staff. Always nice to have chocolate on your bed as a little treat."

There was a miscommunication between messages and booking.com. Messages are separate from the actual booking. So if you have a special request make sure it is noted in the booking process and not just as a separate message. The owner was more than willing to help make everything right, but it is good information to know that the two forms of communication are not connected.

"Gorgeous view from the apartment! There's a big window showing the beautiful mountains below. Beautiful interior design throughout!! The host was also very friendly 🌷 Buiilt as a compact studio apartment with a large bed, all beautifully designed. Next door there's a room that serves as a small kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave and capsule coffee machine. Lots of attractions nearby - Nimrod Fortress, Hermon Mountain site and cable car, Tel Dan, Ghajar village and Banias National Park."

Fortunately we travelled with a 4x4 wheel drive car -- a must-have to negotiate the steep roads in the village.

"Paolo is a wonderful host. He's warm and kind. He immediately offered us coffee when we arrived. We felt right at home. The house was clean enough. We also had a nice breakfast. I highly recommend it."

The small rooms are really small. A bed and a fridge and very little space left. Every floor has 2 larger rooms, they are better.

The only downside was that the restaurant was closed due to the holidays.

"The way they treated me is out of my expectations. They understood my situation of flights cancellation, modification and of course my financial changes. I really loved the staff, cleaning, friendly environment, cooking facilities and much more. Suggests everyone to come and enjoy luxurious facilities at low cost. Hats off to Penthouse Hotel."

Their is nothing i can assume to be bad. Everything was above my expectations. Everyone should try it at least. No one will say that they found something bad on this hotel.

"To start with, the location is not only excellent (right in the middle of historical Viterbo, walking distance to most things), but you also have parking inside (and space for normal-sized cars too), which can be a life saver when travelling by car. Nice (and very clean) room, and for a very reasonable price (have been to city accommodations half as good for twice the price). Also provided disposable indoor slippers, which is instantly a +1. Lastly, can mention that the owner also has a nearby restaurant (c. 2min walk), called La Chimera, which I can strongly recommend. I do not normally give 10/10 unless very deserving, i.e. going above and beyond, but this place deserves it."

The host cannot speak much English, but make it up through effort and enthusiasm, so you will still understand in the end (with or without Google translate). Breakfast was ok, but almost only sweets, so some less sugary stuff as well could be good. Some of the toiletries just lasted, so not a big issue, but if providing more then would not have to ration. Can also be a bit difficult to find (more so since some streets are currently closed-off due to construction).

The toilets and kitchen where untidy. The kitchen had no stock so the limited menu was unavailable.

"The stay felt incredibly peaceful, surrounded by mountains and fresh air. The trekking routes were scenic and gave a real sense of connection with nature."

It's nice to have bedside lamp for a softer light at night.

"I spent a wonderful week at The Octopus Tropical Oasis. I had the flamingo cabin behind the pool with a double bed and an outdoor shower. There is a communal kitchen, a small deck and a hammock in a tropical garden. The pool is very nice and the area is very quiet. It is a 3 mn walk to Playa Wachi, 15 mn from Boca Sami beach and another 30 mn hike from there to Kokomo beach. I painted a mural for the owners over 3 days."

Bring mosquito spray as there are lots of mosquitoes from 5 pm to 7 am even with the mosquito net around the bed. I walked a lot as I did not rent a car. There are local buses though.

"Location is ok, 10 minutes walk to Somerset MRT station. Cleanness was ok, not spotted but acceptable. Air conditioning worked well. As the cheapest private room with private bathroom in the whole city this place is worth its price. Good contact with owner via whatsapp. I would come back."

The owner does not treat this place like a hotel, so for example, toilet paper is replaced by the guests themselves.

"The stay was very good for the price. The room was modern, clean, and well maintained, and it felt new and equipped. The bed was large and comfortable, which made sleeping easy and restful. The room had its own private bathroom and toilet, both modern and in good condition. Cleanliness was fully satisfactory, and the overall impression of the room was contemporary and well organized. The staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The location is also very good — close to the city center, yet quiet enough at night with no disturbing noise."

There were no major negatives. The only small inconvenience was that card payment was not possible, but this was not really a problem because there is an ATM close to the property.

"Excellent location in the center of town, if one wishes to stay in this area (which was my case). Large room, clean, no noise at all, and very safe. Air conditioning works very well. The common area is excellent, which large common space, full of African art. They also provide tasty meals, at affordable prices. Staff is very kind and helpful."

My room's ceiling fan did not work well. The shower's faucet is not that great, and it is often hard to get the shower's temperature right.

"The property is beautiful and the hosts are wonderful. Rooms are spacious."

The rooms did not have A/C which I don’t think is needed most of the time, but we went during a heat spell and the fans only did so much. We had to keep the door open all night, which is a safety concern for some people.
