"For a hostel, the facilities are excellent and like what you’d find in a nice hotel, though you still are just getting a bunk to sleep in. There’s a bar to buy drinks or coffee, areas to relax in, and the showers are very nice. Great location near Rejnisfjara (though the beach is fundamentally changed as of February 2026, it’s still beautiful and worth seeing, and location near Vik is great)."

"It is hostel, so you will just be getting a bunk bed to sleep in, so it can be disruptive if other guests are making a lot of noise, though this wasn’t an issue in my experience."

"It is a hostel. the common areas were immaculate, well designed, well laid out, 24 hrs bar, spa water and snacks. showeres and toilets were clean. free parking. very quiet surroundings, 2 kms away from Reynisfjara and 7 kms from Vik. Great place to wind down after a hectic day. don't expect great privacy or absolute calm inside the dorms - it is a hostel at the end of day."

"We couldn’t have had a better experience at The Barn. It was in the most incredible location, the staff was so kind and helpful, the room was immaculate, and the shared facilities were spotless. So cozy!"

"A comfortable double bed to share with your travel companion. Showers are powerful and hot. The kitchen can become busy at times but is very well furnished. Easy parking, quiet area. It feels like an upscale hostel, with a cozy atmosphere. The staff is helpful and speaks wonderful English."

"A little shelf for each bed could be useful, to store the phone and other little items while sleeping"

"Super comfy beds, beautiful complete kitchen and facilities and amazing interior. Good location just outside of Vik. Also great selection of games! Good value for money. Not really a social hostel but can imagine it to be if the right people are there."

"The walk to the showers from the dorm goes through the lobby which is a bit awkward... also the rooms are quite small and cramped, and the bed capsules are also small if underneath the sloped roof. Someone in my room brought a space heater and turned it on without asking anyone so we were all overheating, which was just rude, but this was no fault of the hostel."

"It’s a little away from the city by a 5 minute commute. Makes the chances of seeing lights higher and bed were super comfortable."

"Super friendly and accommodating staff, good vibes in the common area and comfy beds. We were a party of 13 staying in the Barn and Black Beach Suites - teens in the dorm, grandma got private bath and families in suites. We liked it so much 9 of us stayed a second night!"

"It was very quiet and cozy. Tea and coffee in the room. Great location just outside of Vik and close to the Black Sand Beach."

"I would have liked a blanket in the room in addition to the duvet. I sleep hot, but need a covering and the duvet was too much."
