Breakfast was meager. Swimming in the pool is prohibited from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The restaurant closes at 3 p.m. and is not open continuously. The selection was limited and expensive. Drinks in the refrigerator were grossly overpriced. On the public beach, there were only a few sun loungers and a single parasol. We left early. Not for people who enjoy a good breakfast buffet and swimming in the open sea.

We enjoyed the cute museum on site and appreciated the 50% discount! The staff was incredibly helpful. We forgot a suitcase and they quickly realized our mistake and called us before we had been gone more than a few minutes. It was a quick turnaround to be reunited with our belongings! So kind and thoughtful!"

"Das Zimmer war überraschend groß und modern eingerichtet – man merkt sofort, dass alles neu ist. Besonders schön: die tolle Ausstattung mit Espresso-Maschine und kostenlosem Kaffee. Auch das Bad war sehr geräumig und hochwertig gestaltet. Über die Terrasse mit eigenem Strandkorb hatte man einen wunderbaren Blick Richtung Bodden – perfekt, um abends den Tag ausklingen zu lassen"

Das Zimmer ließ sich trotz der Verdunkelungsmöglichkeiten nur bedingt abdunkeln, da durch die Milchglastür früh Tageslicht hereinkam. Bei der Ankunft war es zudem recht staubig, was etwas den ersten Eindruck trübte. Außerdem war der Kaffeeweißer aufgrund der hohen Luftfeuchtigkeit auf der Insel hart geworden.

"This stay was one of my favourite after one month all around Guatemala. Submerged in nature this property is so peaceful and beautiful. The cabins are spacious and have everything you need plus the beds are super comfortable and it’s very clean. The pool was refreshing and the river is warm, calm in this spot and inviting. The cherry on top is the owners attentive service and incredible cooking! The food was really delicious and I wish I had stayed longer to enjoy more of everything! This was my hidden gem find on my trip."

The spa was a bad experience. They only accepted cash and asked for extra charge for bathrobes. The floor was wet and slippery. The changing rooms cold. There were 4 people blasting music on their bluetooth speaker and not a single employee came to say anything.

"Our time at Waya Island was truly one of the best experiences of our lives! The resort is gorgeous and the entire staff is top notch. The room is comfortable, spacious and clean. The pool area is relaxing and beautiful. We loved the snorkeling, both swim out and a chartered boat trip. Incredible coral and sea life! The deciding factor in choosing this resort was the food reviews and they were spot on. Every meal simply blew us away. Imagine living right next to the best restaurant you’ve ever been! Delicious food beautifully prepared and impeccable service. It was heaven! We were genuinely sad to leave and are already planning a trip back."

The staff were very friendly and kind. The location is quiet and the sunset and sunrise view were lovely. There is ample parking as well, that's a huge plus in my book."
